Hi All - i know this is probably a stupid question to you but... I cant even log in - i started a trial version and i get to the

update part which seems to progress ok but then it just sits there. I dont get a log in screen again. If i start the game again it just goes over the same routine. I really want to try this game but im getting nowhere fast.

any ideas?

The patch updates might be taking a long time.  What's your internet connection like?  I remember back in the old days, doing a fresh EQ install and it taking around 2 days to fully patch.  This shouldn't be the case nowadays, but it could be a contributing factor.

My suggestion is to let it sit for a while, go make lunch or run a few errands and come back and see if it's made any progress.

If that's not it, then I got nothing, but I'm sure someone else will have more advice.

Hope it works!

At the best of times, the first patch is 4 to 7 hours. It's a lot of data to update.

which tril version?
the escape to norrath or the trilogy (if thats still free)?
the escape is a serperate server and only covers the mines tutorial till lvl 10.
you could find a cheap expansion pack and get a free month to reg servers.
but it depends on how much you want to spend the anniversary pack has upto SoF i think but i would spend the money on the latest pack to get mercs.
also with the new server opening up it is a great time to start as you will be able to roll a toon on the new server and actually have loads of pewople on the same lvl.

It may also help to know your Operating system, Yvonukon! Are you using Windows XP or Vista?

If you're using Windows Vista, please try my gauntlet of 3 fixes that most commonly resolve the problem!

-

Fix 1:

1. Right click on Station Launcher icon and go to properties
2. Go to the compatibility tab
3. Click on "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select XP Service Pack 2
4. Check "Run this program as administrator"
5. Click Apply
6. Right Click on the Station Launcher icon once again
7. Click "Run as Administrator"

Fix 2:

1. Make sure you are logged in on an Administrator account.
2. Navigate to the Station Launcher folder (Usually c:\program files\sony\station\ will contain the Station Launcher folder)
3. Right click on the Station Launcher folder and go to properties
4. Click on the Security Tab
5. Click on the Edit button.
6. Go through each username or group listed and make sure all "Allow" boxes are checked
7. Ensure that no "Deny" boxes are checked and click OK.

Fix 3:

1. Select the START button.
2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)
3. Press OK
4. Select the STARTUP tab.
5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.
6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.
