It wasn't a bug, but I miss the days I could cast invis on pet classes to kill their pet when they got on my nerves
The guild banner attacking people in FC.
The wtd bug when your pet could cast a pet and that pet could cast one and so on.Then they go on a killing spree on some random group member.
There is a rumor that you could cast an eye and kill it over and over for zonewide randoms. That is why eyes are unlootable these days.
I liked it when the forgot to increase the proc number for sks on a particular spell and instead of doing damage it procced a gate.
Made for a very interesting cleric epic fight
My favorite bug is the one that allows you to wear a robe graphic when in a chain coat.I hate the way you we get to the living bridge in the Hive by climbing that wall, no pun intended.
Currently, not being able to do void progression b/c Safe Passage is impossible. (I know , I know there is a trick way to do it)
All Time record for longest bug that was on list to fix - the Monk aura
Super Old School.
Logging in twice on the same account and same character and handing it your cash, items.
The ++XP rezz bug
Duplicate item trade or double your cash on zoning bug
Befallen banker who traded copper for pp!!!
Oh, and using levitate to bump nudge a competitors trader off of the trade platform to disable it. heheheh
This has been mentioned, but a friend of mine was in the Nexus once (maybe 4 or 5 years ago? not sure) and he fell through the floor. I believe he was stuck there under the word until someone came and got him out.
Dont know if anyone remembers but when Bazaar first came out.. Rogues could pick pocket the traders.... I know a few that made out like bandits..... also there was a banker in zone that dupped all plat in bank..

Once upon a time, random named in Frontier Mountains were dropping Marked Signet (the Aid Grimel #5 earring).
This only happened in Beta.
Dots were bugged. In one TICK, ONE spell would do 700K damage. I found it funny, but I don't think the devs or my fellow guildies did when we spent so much time setting up and going over possible strats to have the raid mob collapse in 1-2 ticks. This was purely random. I laughed so hard I cried when our necro elder basically kept DTing himself since the dot bug also affected lich line.

That's an urban legend.
Other fun bugs:
Prathun-Dev wrote:
That's an urban legend.Other fun bugs:Zero delay archery, allowing arrows to be fired as fast as you could press a button.Unusually high acceleration when hopping out of water, resulting in a free slingshot across the zone (often to your death from the falling damage). This was on Test. The collision from a door opening into a PC would cause the player to shoot up into the air (and often fall to their death). This was on Beta.Antraygus, the Sporali King appearing in a completely unrelated zone.Being able to /guildinvite NPCs and receiving a different message when they were up or not, often used to ghetto track static raid bosses from anywhere in the zone.
Don't forget the /assist Npc_Name00 zonewide track bug. If the mob was up, you didn't get any message back. If it wasn't, it said your target was too far away (weird, I know).

Nice, I'd forgotten about that one. That's what happens when you allow the same commands to work on NPCs and PCs alike!
A memorable bug was back during Luclin expansion. The guards in Shadowhaven gave MASSIVE xp when killed and had little to no life. Monks pulled massive trains while groups AOE'd them dead.
Another one was during the DirectX upgrade fiasco, my guild was raiding Vex Thal, and the walls and textures were scrambled rainbow colors that bounced around -- We felt like we were all high.
Another one was around release where if you said the right 'code word' to an NPC in Greater Faydark, it would cast a ShapeChange buff on you. That one was fixed promptly
Extended Swarm bug. It made swarm pets permanent. I summoned around 35 Rumbling Servants and killed a test 85 even with all his regen (was on beta only).
Right after PoR came out, auras were bugged and NPCs would attack them. As a mage I basically had infinite duration DA, except I could still cast on the mob that was distracted by my aura. Of course this was also when using a horse with your aura could kill you with falling damage... that one wasn't so fun.
There was also some bug with monster summoning that made the size of your pet permanent. zone into a zone with giants and use monster summoning then everywhere you went you pet would be huge (like a giant).

this was my personal favorite prank ever.
back when pets first started zoning with you if say you got a cyclops or a hill giant with monster summoning.
the pet would change to the default pet for what ever zone you went to. one time i went into OT when it was still popular and ended up with a life size cliff golem pet , that i promptly parked at the the book.
while i sat on the wall watching you could alost see them wet themselves when they zoned in right between his legs.
all you saw was mad scrambles to the book to try and get away.
One of the last boat bugs before their removal for years had them pathing oddly. I was a lvl 20 or 30 ranger in Erud's Crossign minding my own business when BAM suddenly I'm on top of a mast since the boat went and pathed through the island itself. I waited until it was over water and tried to run jump to the water but I hit the deck. Had to petition a GM to get my corpse who proceeded to scoff at my story... until the boat decided to try and kill him the way it killed me.
There was an awesome little bug with the little pool of water in front of library entrance in PoK.
If you ran directly into it on a mount, you got launched hundreds of feet into the air. It made getting on the very top of the library a snap.

I always wondered how people got up there. (wondered and was jealous)
When Luclin came out and some people's video cards and/or display drivers didn't meet the requirements of Luclin models rendered all characters completely naked. =p
Some speed increasing spell buff bugged out where you could cast it on yourself, log, recast it, log, repeat repeat and it kept stacking. It might have been limited cause I think you lost it if you zoned. Sure was fun to watch though.
Oh and a weird bug was when a patch caused items to have a black box around them and made them look like pieces of paper. (best way I could describe it.)
Good times. =)
Oh yeah, was gonna add something. I haven't tried it in a long time, but does jumping in water with a torch still cause it to look like this weird funky staff? Never understood the reasoning behind it because it existed for a long time or maybe still does. =p

That boat still doesn't path right. Watched it sail through the island several times during the anniv events.
There was a short time when I couldn't see anything that used the kobold model. Which was really bad, for a low level character whose newbie zone was Innothule. (Looks around, no mobs in sight. Starts moving... Grr, bark, bark, grr... LOADING, PLEASE WAIT... Only thing I could ever see was the target ring, after they started killing me.)
Unusually high acceleration when hopping out of water, resulting in a free slingshot across the zone (often to your death from the falling damage). This was on Test.
This is still around if you know how to bug it out. However instead of resulting in death it usually results in you going LD.
I remember being up near the library in PoK and trying to get good speed built up while mounted (knight mount, but others may have worked); running towards that little pool up there and hitting it just right, you could jump up onto the roof of the library )

This still works with the worg mount cause I was doing it the other day. All you do is run in the pool for a few secs then you fly up. Fun when you're bored.

That was probably the best troll prank on these forums. It was quickly disproven in the orignal thread, but years later people remember the original post and not the result.
when they released the Wishting Fists quest. Human monks were able to buy the knives............in i think Ferrot off a vendor and turn them in in Lake of ill omen for max caballis faction.
Back when the game was released you could cast voice graft (I was an SK) on your pet then kill the pet. Now ANY NPC you targeted would speak what you typed.
I sent so many noobs on funny quests is was hilarious.
Gator_01 says "Bring me the head of 5 sand giants and I will grant you the Sword of God Slaying!"
Mole
SoF ( I think) beta when the VoV HoT was a cheal each tick

Aha!
I wanna try the library one!
I enjoyed it when the SOF common crystal loots cast scarecrow illusions
Guess people are too shy to post it ..... the shroud xp bug .... single handedly the biggest "bug" the past 2 years
Remember when Tribute first came out and you would get 300 tribute for a spintering club or something.
I knew instantly it would get nerfed down, but there were people on the boards that moaned and groaned for months after there massive tribuet totals were slashed...
When corpses counted as people and you could put campfires down with them. Lol.
And the water fast swimmy thingy happens alot in PoWater if you swim directly into a wall for a couple seconds, then swim somewhere else.. It only lasts a second or two though.
It's actually surprising how a game as big as EQ doesn't have many popular urban legends. Sure, there's a few old ones usually referring to how to spawn some uber-rare mobs like the ancient cyclops, but for the most part people didn't believe them. Other games, people are pretty stupid about rumors. Like I used to be a regular on a Final Fantasy board, and even 5 years after VII's release, we'd STILL get near-daily posts asking how to bring Aeris back to life.
On topic: This one was only fixed a few months ago... If you MGB'd a buff that proc'd another buff, very often MGB would pop back up. This was never a big thing until Talisman of Unity. We shammies cherished that bug for months after SoD's release.

That reminds me of another tribute. When TSS was released Ichor Encrusted Chain Gloves dropped in Blightfire from a couple named. I checked the tribute on them and it was about 40k! Topped up my tribute very quickly.

There's a monster in Lake Rathetear. And, in Castle Mistmoore, Mayong only spawns at midnight PST on Halloween/Brad's birthday/when you spend 666 smedbux.
Wasnt a bug but was endless enjoyment for hours on end if really bored... Back when you could drop coins.. My enchanter would go to most popular bank hangouts... drop a plat coin.. cast minor illusion to look like the coin then pick it back up so not to loose.. then watch for hours as people clicked on you trying their hardest to get the coin... made for some fun......
Also I think this was fixed but for longest time.. tree illusion was a wall.. if person had it on you couldnt move through them... so I wacthed a guy wall up freeport... every entrnace out.. no way out unless gate... he was casting then dieing... just to make a wall.. was very funny... a gm had to be summoned to clear the corpses to be able to leave the city...
Being able to get on zone walls in freeport and highpass hold and nuke guards without them moving. They would aggro but didn't know where to run to find you so they just stood there. Yeah, I got caught but it was still fun times.
Squeezing through places like the hole entrance in wolf form or shrunk that were intended to be lock picked =)
Turning no drop items to potions to save in a shared bank and retrieved by another char on the same account. I think this was common knowledge for like 2 seconds before it got corrected. By the time I tested it out it would cause your char to crash instantly if attempted, sony wasn't messing around fixing that. That bug was probably not a bug but a 'feature' that was likely programmed in by coders from what I've heard. Sorta sucks for them that someone spilled the beans and they lost the use of it. Was probably 4ish+ years ago.

This was a Zek tactic. Buy some really good items for ALOT of plat. Push the vendor into the arena, kill him, loot your money back and take his best equipped item.
I remeber there were a couple old school bugs that aloud players to pass no drop.. the most common was forges.. you could put in the no drop item and then the other person could open and take.. same with some mobs.. could give them no drop.. then other person kill and loot.. I of course never once used any dupe.. bug.. or bug.. and even if I wanted.. I always heard of the bugs after they were fixed...
Not really a well known bug.. but back in Beta (for you old schoolers).. there were 2 perma death mobs... Lake of Ill omen monster... (Leviathon) and Lady Vox. a death by those mobs for a short time caused your character to be deleted.. so you found yourself back at character select screen..
The funnest bugs have always been video card failures.. when that happened the fun effects that occured were always hillarious...some of the best screenshots are of those..
Lake of Ill Omen mob in beta? That's impressive.
HEHE holy crap I am tired.... Lake Rathtear... oh my god...
For a very long time you only needed to buy the first level of Mastery of the Past AA and no spells at any level fizzled.
For a few weeks during the PoP era mounts were able to be summoned in indoor zones. Made for some great pvp wars in Plane of Tactics!
