It seems to me - although there is exactly no evidence to
support this - that Zions economy would be a combination of a barter
system and a socialist/communist system...every citizen contributes
what they can, where they can, in exchange for access to the city
resources; If you need a favor from someone with a specific skill, you
do them a favor in return.

Just a theory, but it is difficult for me to imagine it as anything too radically different from that.  Just my two cents :smileyhappy:

I've always believed that Zion's currency was based on a sort of communistic way.  Trading and bertering as the last poster said would seem the only logical explanation.  I doubt any form of physical currency would be used.  Any form food would be the highest type of trading, followed by clothing, and firearms at the lower end of that spectrum.

I agree, it would be a barter system. The people of Zion are a lot
diffrent that the people on earth however. They wouldn't after a profit.

I'm a heavy RPer myself it's the only way i see you actually feeling the matrix in this game. Everytime I play I RP even if the guy I'm messing with isn't RPing with me. I don't see why anyone would want to play a MMORPG and chat as if you were on yahoo messenger, or in a chat room. Those are the ones that seem to ruin the game for alot of others who enjoy bringing their characters to life. So fair warning if you run across me, and I say something that catches you by surprise, just remember it's a game, and I'm in character.

The barter / socialistic system is what I was thinking about, too. But
considerung the large amount of redpills wandering in Zion, I can also
imagine they use the matrix $info as a currency in the real. Only among
redpills of course as there's surely no freeborn who can make use of
that. I always try to see $info as a placeholder for "favors" others do
owe you - both in the real and in the matrix. It's knowledge about who
to ask, where to find coders to enhance (read: lvl) your ability code
and the like.
