With the recent accidental introduction of the organisational abilities i got thinking about reputation and how to increase it. At present the only way is grinding missions. Now thats not fun especially if you have 1 (like my zion who used to have max SMILEY *sniff* ) So i got thinking...couldnt we increase the reputation gain from critical missions? They only come every few days and wont make a major difference but will in terms or trying to boost rep.

I agree.  You kill two birds with one stone too, as it gives more incentive for people to do the crits and get more involved in the storyline.

In addition, the rep gain chances at the very high end is horrific and almost masochistic.    I've had my main character Villemar since beta with massive amounts of /play time and for all that, the highlight of my year last year was to jump from 123 rep to 124.  At this rate I'll be able to enjoy my top tier org ability in the year 2011.  There's something very wrong about that, in my opinion.

Heh. I've been at 124 ever since I ran a Merv mission with Theptism, a member of Scanline. And I was stuck at 125 before that. So yeah, I agree, one mandatory point per cirtical mission seems like it might be a good idea. Most of the people with slightly below Max rep are looking for a way to max it out, anyway, and this is a good idea.

I was about to protest this idea, then I realised you were talking about crits, not their archived versions. SMILEY

Ain't a bad idea, I suppose. You're working for your org and it wouldn't help org hoppers because of how infrequently crits come around.

adding it to the crits wouldnt hurt nothing but help the ones who are at the point that its rare to get a rep point get points.

Good Idea, that is if the org abs go into effect and not end up like Zen master.

I'm sure those who don't have max rep would really like this idea, but the decrease in % chance for each level was implemented for a reason.

I had 125 Rep initially but then used to help some lowbie Sirens with missions and had that knocked down to about 80, I decided to once again increase my rep back a long time ago and spent a LOT of time grinding out the missions but did get my Max rep in time.

Yes, reputations meant to be hard to earn at higher levels but when people (myself included) are getting stuck at certain nubmbers for years at a time then somethings a little off.

I'm sure tweaking the numbers a little bit, especially if only on the weekly criticals, isn't gonna cause any real damage, only good.

If I remember correct the % chance for the 120 and up range is 1% to less then 1. So yeah it's fun grinding those last 7.

I agree the chance of gaining rep for crits should be increased (even just a bit), it makes sense as you're completing the most important missions for your org so they should be worth more. Maybe it can take into account how much you explore the mission like if you read every NPC comment, kill all hostiles, hack all the optional computers etc. Doing these would increase your chances of gaining rep.

I have to ask... are those people who are stuck at 12x (I'm currently at 123) doing standard missions all the time like they were grinding XP for the long climb to lvl 50, or are they just doing the criticals and a few standards a week to help others?

I dissagree..the rep system isnt impossible it just takes some time spent to get it.. if you didnt do many normall missions on the way to 50 then i might be seen as hard.. but for those who did put th effort in on getting the rep points deserve to have the ability... which i see as the whole point. So i say no to the rep point in criticals.. and just get on with the grind it part of the game !! sorry to be a bore.

Those abilities are never going to be released. Getting your rep ro 100 is not hard and that's the highest level rep you need to get anything. That's NOT going to change. Max rep is earned by dedicqtoin to your org, continue doing org missions, help others level up, keep working at it and you get there. Suddenly you see some rep based abilities that are NEVER going to be released and now you say "max rep is tooo hard, please make it easier...". So you didn't care to get it before you saw the rep based abilities that aren't going to be released and now you think it needs to be made easier so you can have something that will never be available anyway. Pffft. Either you prove you're worth it or you're not. If it's too hard for you to keep doing missions to get it, then you're not worth it.

I'm going to agree that most games out there are a grind...but the difference in them and MXO is the ways in which to can actually gain xp/rep. They provide alot more content to allow you to mix and match how to get to 50. and it doesnt help that the games half dead. What im asking for is a way to ease that grind. To be quite honest to have to grind the same missions is bad enough without having the possibility of getting absolutly no reward at the end of the mission (0 org rep points)

Initially i wasnt implying that the criticals always give out 1+ rep...althought that would solve any problem since after about 5 or 6 months play you could deffinatly have full rep (even if you didnt completeany normal missions) which realistically isnt much. Considering the casual player would still only be about level 30-40... But: Increasing the % at which it is given in criticals wouldnt make much difference..as you said anyway theres not much to "use" the rep for the highest reward being at 100 (org construct).

Excuse me? This issue has been brought up serveral times and the fact that they considered (and granted probably wont) releasing content based on this system only goes to exemplify the fact that it needs fixed. I've had max rep on my zion character for two years, then changed orgs (the hard way) and back again..yes thats max -min-1 which is over 200 missions atleast...So i ask for a little help like most of us had, and have for years and your saying i dont want to work for it?

I've put more than my fair share of time and effort into this game and i'd appreciate it when i ask or suggest something you don't assume im lazy or impatient. I've been there done that and this is an issue that needs fixed for more than my "selfish reasons". If you dont like the idea please make valid reasons against it other than shooting down the people themselves accusing them of qualities you don't even know we have.

Back in the beginning, there wasn't a maximum rep and you got a rep point for every mission you did regardless.  I remember within the first month of live or so, I must've had over 500 rep points for Zion.  Then, they implemented the current rep system, and everyone that had rep over 127 was put at Maximum.

Most people who have maximum rep with their orgs got it this way, not by doing the grind that's neccessary now.

I agree that crits should give you a rep point.  It only makes sense.

Huh, first I've heard of that. For the record, I'm one of the 'few' that got it the hard way. SMILEY
