It’s that time of year again and your favorite in-game zombies are ready to eat some brains! The Matrix Online “2008 Halloween Masquerade Event” is scheduled to start on October 23rd and run until November 6th.

Here are some of the spooktacular highlights that you can expect:
  • Zombies will be spawning in two neighborhoods per district and they have a chance of dropping lootable masks.
  • Jack-o-lanterns will be making an appearance at set positions in each district which will spawn Exiles when activated and drop a lootable box that has a chance of containing a mask.
  • There are 28 masks: 7 from 2005 (V), 7 from 2006 (VI), 7 from 2007 (VII), and 7 from 2008 (VIII). They have an indefinite duration, and have no effect on whether or not you can be attacked (i.e., they are just for decoration).
  • Zombies have a special bite attack that turns the victim into a zombie. While zombified, players can use the bite attack to zombify others. Holy Water and Antibiotics clear the zombie virus, as does reconstructing.
  • The sky will become pitch-black with a big moon, hardlines will be adorned with decorations, and all clubs will be flashing decorative Halloween inspired spotlights.

Don’t miss out on all the ghoulish fun! See you there and Happy Halloween!

Yeah, hopefully the sky won't be so dark as it has been in th past (though I'm not really crossing my fingers).

In the past, it's been very hard to play with that pitch black skybox.

I thought it was already implemented, something must be wrong with my simulation then SMILEY

While there are no real changes, I wasn't expecting any... should be a great time, and I, for one, look foward to the darkness.  I still would love to see something closer to the Halloween style night during the rest of the year.. even just as one night a cycle as we already get with Sati days.

.. oh, and.. Ookami, please?

Oh the darkness is good.. but for realism ages ago i turned off the spotlight on your character and now there is no light at all >.> couple that with my 10 year old computer screen with messed up gamma/brightness. Not good. lol

well i will definitely be attending this year (:

The hunt for masks can begin again!

I never liked that darkening effect, but that's just me :/
