Just been poking around Wikipedia's Matrix-related pages and entries and naturally this one caught my attention, since anyone who knows me knows I'm one of the few Flood-fangurlz of Recursion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ix_series#Flood

But it was the last paragraph that really caused my eyebrows to rise:

Following in his foot steps is his Son, Marchello, who he saw great potential. Marchello is quite like his adopted farther; saracstic and self important, but also has plans of his own. He acts as the Opperatives voice as their confidence is shaken by Flood's constant insinuations.

Has anyone seen evidence of this guy yet? Don't let Sieges know about this, or she'll have someone else to start crushing on...

I can't tell if its spelling or its credibility is worse. On top of that, it's on Wikipedia. Any noob could've thrown that on there.

It's probably just a player who thinks they're Flood's son. We've certainly had enough people claiming to be the bastard-child of Neo and Niobe's sister.

Then again... could be credible. But I sure haven't heard anything about it.

Wasn't the old Merovingian liaison, Inundiation, created from some of Flood's code?

People should know better than to RP like a god especially when there is an official source that can shoot you down within a moment's notice.  Case in point, everyone who RPed reinsertion had to eat all their work because one sentence made everyone rethink something that had presumed to be true.

Keep your RP humble and you won't have people laughing at you.  For instance: breaking out of Blackwood, being the reincarnation of Neo or a thousand year old lesbian vampire.

Keep it simple.

Do we really know what's true in the Matrix universe? :: Winks::

I can go with someone breaking out of Blackwood or being 600 year old vampire: part of the backstory on the Blackwoods gang is that they broke out of Blackwood, so who knows what other Exiles could have escaped with them. And since we've got three versions of the Matrix (the Paradise Matrix, the Hell Matrix and the Modern US City in the late 1990s Matrix), the of which has gone through six iterations in the cycle of the One, that accounts for about maybe plus/minus 600 to 800 years, so there could be Exilic programs that old. But I'd draw the line at claiming to be the offspring/reincarnation of/romantically involved with a canon character.

Back to my original question: Aw, shucks. I guess a certain starry-eyed little gal on Recursion isn't going to get lucky.

Either way, we know reinsertion wouldn't be allowed.  You'd be gunned down.

But I'd draw the line at claiming to be the offspring/reincarnation of/romantically involved with a canon character.

Exactly why we should keep things simple.  SMILEY

I've just always been under the impression that the leaders of Blackwood were merely lying in order to recruit naive exiles to join them.

I will admit that some people have very convincing RP, but at some point the restrictions of the game come into play that break the illusion.  However I pretend it, reality always pops its evil little head in from time to time.

In the end, though, I do applaud player creativity and encourage it.

I believe in the closest canonical reference, it's 2199 by the time of the first movie. So technically right now would be 2207.

So using that as a guideline, the Matrix could only have existed for a little bit less than 160 years? Which would actually work well with everything that the Architect had said. Keep in mind that by the time the Man-Machine War came about, there were enough Machines to build their cities and conduct expirementations within record time.

I think that this is the SAFEST bet for anyone who wants to get really in-depth with their RP. You might THINK you're a thousand year old lesbian vampire, but then that's not necessarily the truth, what, simply because you believe it? Your faulty programming is the reason why you're an Exile anyways.

Blackwood tends to have the most space for expansion out of the scenarios mentioned here. But I wouldn't pitch leprechauns.

Found this in the same wiki article, tho the reference to Flood's son has been deleted. (good)  Maybe someone should report this to Wiki, too.  Players of MxO should not try to canonize their RP by making things up in Wikipedia. At least the people who perpetrate these attempts at credibility invariably use their RSI names, pointing straight to the egotist.  Why someone wouldn't bother with a simple spelling check before trying to aggrandize themselves is beyond me.  "Oh, everyone, look at me, I'm so great, but I can't spell!"

"It is later descovered [sic] that the surviving Runner descovers [sic] a way to jack in to the matrix. After falling into the service of an evil exile named Nemesai, is descovered [sic] by Zionites in the real world. His meeting with Nemesai results in his desrtuction [sic] by killcode, disabling his neuro-networks, it is then that the Human's [sic] reactivate and recruit him to their Faction. Known as JetBlack in the Matrix Online, he plays out the continuing role of the Runner's RSI."

All MxO RSIs were pod-born Awakened.  That's the canon  If you want to RP being an exile program or some such other nonsense, that's fine, this is an RPG, but don't expect anyone to buy it.  Everyone went thru the Awakening cinematic in the beginning of the game, this should clue you in that you're not an exile program or other fabricated character, you're a Redpill just like everyone else in MxO.

EDIT:  Aha!  This: "In The Matrix Online an Exile called the General and his army of commandos are programs of the Sentinels, and it is revealed in a recent set of critical missions that he was the leader of the Sentinel army that attempted a second strike on Zion in The Matrix Revolutions." is the kind of entry we need in Wikipedia and should be fleshed out with a lot more (non-RP) information.

Personally, i really don't like when people RP things that are just completely and obviously rediculous. i have, and i kid you not, seen someone seriously role play the son of Morpheus who is supposed to be the next One, and rid the world of the machines.

everytime i see something like that i just ask them questions in circles until they realise they look like an idiot. it's always a good laugh. my thought is that if you're going to write up a background on something, atleast know what the hell it is.

That article goes on to say that the twins are named "Helena and Lorna". O_o

You guys should see the hovercraft list.  There's a few non-canon ships there, mostly from some story called "The Operator Did It".
