I was at a meeting on Vector to discuss issues to do with the server and in general. Whilst there the subject of Devs finding the events unpleasant due to constant non-event discussion taking place came up. At this point I had an idea and suggested it but alas it was washed away in the waves of text.
I'm not sure if this is possible in the game but it doesn't sound too hard. The idea would be to implement a 2nd Area chat. This one could either be accessed at all times (and be called the RP Chat) or just implemented during events. This way those who wish to say hello to whoever who shows up at a big Live Event can without distracting others and flooding the chat.
Of course, it is possible people may still decide to flood this 2nd chat but it should at least cut some of it down.
I propose a way to distinguish what LE characters are saying from the rest of area chat, similar to how a CSR's text is always in red accompanied with a "Crown" icon. The LE character's text could be a color that stands out among the green, along with a small icon so we can easily pick out what they are saying.
