This is one post that I absolutely enjoyed back in the day. I would like to hear peoples Inspiration now.  Please, lets hear them.

I'll ante up.

Alfie

Never really put much thought into it, it's my real name, and I made him look as close to me as possible.  I figured my RSI should be true to myself.

I joined during the second wave of Beta, and was in pre release, and failed to get the jump on those who joined at launch through critical mission bugs!

I reached 50 within a few weeks of launch, through hard grinding.  I was among the first group of 'true fifties', as in I didn't exploit my way up by abusing the bugs in the mission system at the time.

When the server transfers were open, I moved from Method to (Sh)iterator with a couple of friends (<Section 8>SMILEY who no longer play (Melt, I love you and miss you! DarkMitz come back you daft bastage!), where we enjoyed some healthy competition with the biggest faction there, KoN. Those were the days!

I was part of the group (The Collective) that was the first to finish Pandora's Box on the day it went live.

I'm probably best known for (re?)discovering the 'Mothernode' while datamining in Creston Heights, and then innovating the mining macro, which everyone is using legitimately in Datamine.

Been in and out of subscription since then because of the drama caused by the whole mining fiasco, she who shall not be named etc.

Then I moved to Vector, and got into even more trouble...

DrippingCheese

I originally created DrippingCheese on Recursion as an alt for holding Alfie's crap, and decided to roll it, and recreate on Vector.  I had forgotten about the cut off date for Mobius Code, so I don't have it on Vector.

I grinded up to 50 completely solo, with no help from anyone, as this was more of a personal challenge; that I could level to 50, alone, in the most hostile of environments.

After I hit 50, all the fun began!

1000 cqs in less than 2 weeks.

This instantly gave me a high profile status and I was pushed to the top of everyone's hitlists.

I won't go into to the issues that led to me leaving last year, as everyone on Vector knows, and either agrees with me, or hates my guts for it.

Those who I am speaking of, will remain on /ignore in game, but not on the boards, and as long as none of them starts anything on the boards, I won't start anything.

I'm back now, and once I get all my abilities back (grinding again!) I will go hunting, and will not respond to anyone, in fact my chat window will be closed at all times, unless I have something to talk about, trade etc.

What only a few people have twigged, is that 'DrippingCheese' is actually another slang phrase for seminal fluid.

I guess nobody wants to be killed by *CENSORED*, maybe that's why I generate so much heat!!

Terrific thread idea Erythnul (Sykin [Rarebit]).  I hope that more people contribute (or re-contribute) as this is always such an interesting thing to see.

“Eleutherophobia” – Fara Kerrigan Yazin:

The one and only; the one-eyed visionary; the name which Microsoft Word insists is misspelled.  Even before I bought MxO, I knew I was going to be a machinist, and I knew that I wasn’t going to be an agent.  Ele’s character, at its outset, really couldn’t be attributed to anything: it was entirely my brainchild.  Take a girl, an entirely normal, socially adjusted, friendly girl, and throw her into circumstances that would entirely shift her perception.

Essentially, Ele was a high school senior with plans to attend UMC the following year (1999) as a psychology major.  Thanks to what we’ll call “faulty wiring” her RSI chronically proved damaging to the simulation around her.  Think…Silent Hill-esque.  So much so, that eventually, the power being drawn to fix these problems outweighed that which she was producing.  The machines flushed her from the system, but due to that exact same “faulty wiring” her neurokinetic levels exhibited presented advantageous to the machines.  During her awakening, the left side of her skull was…smashed, rendering her left eye all but useless – coming from the fact that from day one, I wanted her to be some sort of a pirate.  For two years (1999-1999) she was “rebuilt” and brain-panned, becoming a machinist negotiator.

And for a time, it was good.

To me, though, no character is interesting without a crippling problem.  The sedatives used to keep her at a stable mental state inside the simulation began eating away at the machine propaganda swirling around in her brain.  I’m sure this could be referenced to something, though I don’t know what.  The machines, writing her off as a failed mechanism refused to remedy their mistake, so she, along with Pyraci, who was having his own issues at the time, took each other as collateral into Zero One, demanding aid.  (To avoid an incident, the machines didn't want her, an "experiment" that would cause Machinist uproar, or him, an exile figurehead that would cause a Merovingian revolt, dead.)  This was sparked by the continuous use of hazy allegiances used in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.

This broke Ele of her strict reigns, and she stole her own ship, once again drawing from Jack Sparrow, to form a confederacy of pirates.  As for her character now, she can be seen as a little girl wearing her mommy’s high heels.  She struggles to adopt the machismo of being an emotionless machinist, but, more-often-than-not, fails.

Her current crew, I found, accidentally, very similar to that of the Bebop from “Cowboy Bebop.”  Ele would be Spike, the one eyed leader with a bizarre past.  Ooidal, the operator, would be Ed, the whimsical hacker who is mostly ignorant of the surrounding world.  Domino, the pilot, would be Jet, one-armed and introverted.  Systemic, the weapons expert, would be Faye, alluring and mysterious, with a keen sense of how to kick *CENSORED*.

Ele’s alias came when she returned to the simulation after being rebuilt.  She was asked her name, and panicked, blurting it out.  Her bluepill name really has no meaning, as it is simply the name I gave to my former EverQuest II character, who was a swashbuckler.

“Dante” - Faust Cunningham:

Dante is my obligatory anti-hero.  Originally, I actually just made him as an event character for something I had planned for Demiurge, but I took a liking to him.  When I first came up with Dante’s character, I wanted him to be this sagely, omnipotent man whose best years had passed him by.  A man who was grasping at straws of his former glory – like Santiago from “The Old Man and the Sea.”  Humble, but in a way so self-assured that you could know just by looking that he had a textbook knowledge of all your secrets.

Over time, however, Dante has become a bit more of eccentric: drawing some inspiration from Howard Hughes.  His character has grown much more three-dimensional with the subtle hint that he may have a history with Eleutherophobia’s operator: Ooidal, which, looking back, would be reminiscent of Jim Phelps’s role in the 1996 Mission Impossible (quite clearly the best of the three).  Additionally, his right-hand-man, Lethe, will very soon remind most of “Fight Club.”

The bluepill name “Faust Cunningham” really doesn’t have any significant meaning, other than the fact that I like using elaborate or oddball names that nobody else would ever consider.  The last name Cunningham, I suppose, could draw meaning from it being the title murder’s death in the first episode of the “Sherlock Holmes” series of the fifties.

As for the “nine years earlier” version of Dante, which will be featured in Phoenix, my graphic novel in-progress, he is a caricature of everything that the current Dante wishes he still was.  Put simply, he is Shaft.

MysticTravi - Kory Estes

The name MysticTravi derived from an age-old text based roleplay I used to do with a group of friends about 10 or so years ago. My character's originally name was Travi Gladius, (where my Agent Gladius alter ego-esque came from, more on that later). The Mystic part came in when during that text based RP, my character was discovered to be one of the 'Ones' so to speak of our storyline, and was given the title Mystic Travi. Eventually, it was combined into one by my own hand as a screenname for AIM.
Travi is my pen name, and is what I use to sign almost all writings I do.

Essentially, I never really based MT off anything as far as his storyline - but his values and beliefs are closely tailored to myself.
The bluepill name is my own, and not based on anything special.
I, like Eleuth however, believe that no character is good without some sort of special conflict or problem.
In his past, Travi was used a 'human' Agent experiment before the war ended. His name, Agent Gladius (refer to my above), was determined to become one of the first human with the efficiency of the System, and the unlimited potential of a human. He however, like I would in certain circumstances, cracked under the pressure of getting ready to shoot an innocent boy who was only in the simulation on his first test.
Now, The Machines had deemed him a 'failed' experiment, and did not bother to remove the Agent coding from his being. Without it being nourished, the code corrupted and rotted from within, leaving him with an incurable disease in the simulation and the Real. However, with the addition of his sister, he finds a way to ignore the pain and suffering from that code and fight on with no issues.

After his awakening, I based him purely off myself in terms of beliefs and values. He values honor, trust and friendship above all else, and looks closely after his friends and family, much like I would.

His current crew, now in it's 3rd iteration, came after a betrayal of a loved one in the Merovingian's service. Wishing to only surround himself with those he KNEW he could trust, he created The Trust, and the name has stuck with him through several service switches and factions.

MysticJad1a - Jeanine Estes

This character was created a year after Travi as a sister figure for Travi. She is somewhat special because she is sort of a dedication of my unborn sister that my mother miscarried. Jadia's name was taken from the fact she wished to have her brother's sirname of Mystic, and Jadia comes from, again, the age-old text roleplay I did with friends. Jadia was the name of one of the characters that assisted Travi in the RP.
Her bluepill name holds no significance other than the fact I believe Jeanine is a very lovely name.

Her personality I tried to base off a Yuffie-type character from Final Fantasy 7, chatty, witty, full of humor and laughter, and a tomboy. Her actions and thoughts are more geared toward having fun, action, adventure and helping how she can. Her undying devotion and love for her brother, however, is her driving force.

When I had her originally die, I was actually out of ideas on how to play her. However, I soon thought up a good cover RP story for it, and decided once I had begun the illness part of Travi's Agent sickness, he needed a way to calm it down or he would die. Since his love interests in the game were all either missing, or dead - I needed another outlet.

She was reconstructed and revived, given the same personality as before, and now still works for the Machines. Now that's she back, she plays a role of a medical officer, which is significant because when I was going up, I wanted to be a doctor - so it allows me to fulfill that wish somewhat.
Now that's she back, she still stands as a tribute to my sister that would be 33 years old this year, had she been born.

Shickle - Taylor Smith

Taylor Smith started off as a boy. Who was extracted by Zion. He knew about Neo, and was fascinated with him. He at first wanted to be just like Neo, and joined a Zion faction that was completely devoted to the path of Neo (before EPN).

Shickle was booted from the Zion faction, and was quickly filled with anger towards modern Zionites. He formed his own crew and spent much time in the real, thinking.

He came back after a year, and quickly joined EPN. He trained, and taught with EPN - still wanting to be just like Neo. He left E Pluribus Neo, due to what he felt was under appreciation. He ran to the Machines, because they were the only ones who he had seen come even close to Neo's power. He was there for not even a day, and went to the Cypherites for a total of <45 minutes. He never felt safe, or at peace with The Machines, and is a choice he is constantly glad he made.

He went on his own, trying to join Unlimit - headed by Anome. Whenever he would defeat a Reactor he would always send his regards to Anome, but never got the chance to formally meet him. During an Unlimit attack, in means for the aquaduct Shickle was on the front lines. After realizing that he would never come into posession of a Cheat Code, or ever meet Anome - he went to The Merovingian.

The Merovingian gave him a sense of independence, and a sense of power. He then (grinded to 50 solo) trained to become one of The Merovingian's most powerful operatives. He then retreated back into the real once again, to contemplate things.

He returned another year later, and has since been fighting for The Merovingian.

(Meaning of the name)

From a numerological standpoint, Taylor (disclosed middle name) Smith is the teacher. One who sees the beauty in life, and seeks to englighten those unenlightened. This represents his time in Zion and EPN, when he still clung to his bluepill life somewhat.

Shickle, is the constructor (again, numerology). One who is busy adding to society. One who does experience much glamor, rebelling against the machine and meeting destiny head on. One who does not smile often. This represents his early time with The Merovingian, where is only real mission was veneance, and justice.

When you combine the two (Taylor Smith & Shickle) you reach The Magician. He has fuflfilled his own prophecy, and is truly enlightened. I will enclose the full definition of The Magician.

The Magician - You will have to pass many tests before you come to the realization of your highest purpose in life. Appearance can be deceiving and you must learn the difference between the real and unreal, lasting values and the evanescent evaluation. The secrets of the universe may be opened to you and the mystic initiation is great within you. Study, prayer and meditation are the paths to your development. Eventually, you will evolve as an understanding and sympathetic individual with a great heart and noble soul. You may have many obstacles to overcome, however your determination to develop and evolve will give you the highest life rewards.

Shickle now sees himself as a "One" for The Merovingian in times of distress for the organization. He still believes in Neo, but now as a testament to what we all can accomplish.

Interesting Note: Jesus, and Neo are both The Magician. Thomas Anderson is The Constructor (a patch I just correlated with my own). Another personal Hero that shares The Magician is Morpheus. Trinity also shares this archetype.

This makes you really think, is it just coincidence that the three main characters in The Matrix share this archetype? And even more, that I do too?

D I E  C A S T

Black flowers blossom from the embers of flames,
The roots of prosperity wheezing in chains.
Initiative may prosper but bury your head,
And mark your inclusion in the relics of the dead.

Divinity scorched onto bodies as signs,
The signatures glow as the words entwine.
No one is prepared to face the threat,
As the needles pierce temples with little regret.

Punctures through holes, in circles create light,
The shards create prisms which pierce through the night.
The black flowers wilt as the light passes by,
Death is the order, and man is to die.

A few remain severed; "The end's not in sight",
The angels are weeping as hope turns to fright.
Their tears become ashes as they soil the ground,
And choke on the air as the inferno abounds.

Night soldiers signal the cavalcades' stride,
Their dominion commencing in one precise tide.
The demise of man, orchestrated alone,
The Earth as it was, undervalued, overthrown.

Mmmm, to start, I have obviously not played long, but came here for the RP aspect only- I'm not much of a grinder, there are dozens of games that can offer that dull ladder, but if there's a good line of RP I can stick around for years.  Sirez brought me, having tested the waters first, and I'm glad that he was right about it.

Jayelin (for some reason, though the first character [Jaylin] was deleted, it wouldn't let me use it again) is loosely based off of a favorite Shadowrun character, Miyu.  I never really got to play her out to my satisfaction, so I'm trying it again.

Being perfectly wealthy and perfectly perfect, college life changed her perspectives and she fell in love with an older guy who kept her focused.  When he disappeared, she went looking for him, and found herself taking that little pill that tossed her from the false world into the real one.  Kind of like Trinity's fierceness, her main focus is him.

I'll probably post her history up sometime, if anyone's interested.

((Oooh...well my alts are basically based off things in MXO, military, etc. NegativeEight, eight's a lucky # and ppl know me best for my negative attitude.

and DemonDHunter, yes that was a typo ^_^.

i always told people it stood for damned or i threw it in there because it sounded better or some BS, no it was a typo. I installed the game on 3 computers, the third finally worked, or, 2, anyway. I was in a hurry, I type really fast, and I had filled out my bluepill name, and my background, but all the handles I was picking were claimed, and I did not want a bunch of numbers on my name after it. so I was thinking, something hunter, because slayer was all ready used. Then bam, DemonHunter, I typed it in rather quickly, because I am a fast typer, I hit start, it said accepted, and I was like YES!!! After an hour into the game I looked at it real good and I was like....hey, wait a second. Yeah, that was a typo. Michael Anderson, my first name is Michael, and Thomas A. Anderson, bam, I have a name. My character's Roleplay has been changed several times, when I started out it was based off of buffy series, the Angel series mostly. Then other characters, mostly Marvel ones, then I based it off movie characters, like the 3 Agents, effy in game, etc. Eventually it all came together to form an original two faced attitude that became DemondHunter. Some interference in RL also affects my character RP.

That about sums it up.))
