Khepril sat at his desk, thinking about his past...
He casually looked at the file on his desk. He had never seen it before today. Michael felt that, seeing as it was Khepril's old personal file Zion, it was about time it was returned to him. The slight amazement had grown in him when he realised how much Zion had taken note about his day-to-day activities.
The main thing he had been shocked of was that they had his main background and career information all noted and commented on...
File Number: 59673864061
Bluepill Name: Marcus Wong
Real name: Khepril
History:
ENTRY 1: Came to our attention when he started spouting random comments out in a bar, blind drunk. "It's all fake" "What's the point in living if none of it's real". Upon inspection of his apartment, it was found to be in a state of decrepidness. Yet there were drawings of code symbols scattered about the place, so obviously he had seen some part of the truth of the Matrix in one of his drunken moments and now attempted to get back to that point again by drinking in excess. So far has not attracted the attention of the Machines. Suggest extraction ASAP if nothing else but for his own safety before he ends up hurting himself or ending up in trouble.
ENTRY 2: Extraction was conducted successfully. Potential has significant damage to all his biological systems, as well as muscle damage. Estimated time before fully fit: 9-11 months.
ENTRY 3: Khepril put forward his name for the command officer training, despite having no experience as a redpill. Tyndall reports seeing the man on numerous occassions outside of the main Zion control area, who asked her a multitude of questions about the operations and how she went about her job. She reports that he does infact have a keen mind and now actually provides helpful options to difficult situations.
ENTRY 4: Based on Tyndall's reccommendation, Khepril has been put forward for the Zion Controller training. Rather than accepting him onto the Officer training, this will give him more hands on experience as to what he will need to understand and excell at before being accepted into that program.
ENTRY 5: Khepril's performance has been exceptional. Note of his dedication and commitment to his work is here-by recorded.
ENTRY 6: Khepril has put his name forward again for Officer training. Considering his flawless performance as a junior controller, I will accept him onto the course to read the theoretical background before assigning him to a ship.
ENTRY 7: Rumours have been going around that Khepril has been sending messages to other officers asking about different forces in the Matrix. At first, it seemed like he wanted to gain better understanding about them, yet just in-case I've asked his Captain to keep an eye on him.
ENTRY 8: Khepril has written a formal letter, saying that he's wishing to be decommisioned from his post, so that he can join EPN. The exact reason why this is we are unaware, yet we are not fighting EPN and we must let him go.
##FILE CONTAINS NO MORE ENTRIES##
Khepril chuckled to himself reading the last entry. 'Yeah, I bet they'd like to know wouldn't they?' He asked the room.
"Well, you can't blame them Khepril really." Michael was standing at the door, a slight smirk on his face.
"Jesus Michael," Khepril spluttered to him, suppressing a laugh, "Don't you knock anymore?"
"Didn't think I had to anymore? Normally you hear me coming down the ladder, what are you doing reading your file again anyway?"
"You know me, man. I was just thinking things through. It's a shame we can't go back to Zion, can't even get them to answer the calls anymore..." His voice drifted off.
Michael looked at him carefully before speaking, "Still miss her?"
"I guess so, she helped me get going before anyone else even given me a second glance. Stupid Lock would be in such a mess without her running all the operations."
"I thought you and Mnemasyne..." Michael raised an eyebrow as he spoke.
"Tyndall wasn't like that man. She was like a sister to me. You shouldn't laugh either, I wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for her."
Holding his hands up in mock surrender, Michael smiled at Khepril, "Hey, easy Khepril. I knew what you meant. I'm sure things will change eventually. EPN is doing all the work Zion wish they could do, if it wasn't due to this truce they're stuck in. I'm sure, everybody will be friends again before long."
"I hope so. Zion's going to end up in trouble if they're not careful though. The first thing they do out of line and the Machines will finish the job they started on it." Khepril said sadly.
"They'll be fine. Like you said, they've got Tyndall looking out for everyone in the Matrix and there's enough ships in Zion now to defend them if the Machines get nasty." Chuckled Michael.
"I guess you're right there Michael."
