If you're saying that Friendly Protocols being Engaged indicates FFA being enabled, then Enemy Protocols being Engaged certainly means perma-PvP.

Just something to work with. It's still an awesome area.

Hmmm... Enemy protocols are engaged in Richland but in Syntax and Recursions case, to actually use them you have to flag. If it said enemy protocols disabled then when you flag you wouldn't be able to target enemy personnel.
Oh well maybe I'm wrong but I can still hope...

Also:

I think people need to get a bit of perspective. This area could very well be for 'just' PvP and data mining, as much as we'd prefer for it to be grander. Why?

Rarebit just made a brand new area! SMILEY That hasn't been done since the start of the game (barring the Commando white halls, but they were easy)! However little there is to do in there, we technically just got a huge boost of content. I think just having the place is all we can fairly expect for the time being.

I'm not saying it won't be changed later, that there won't be new things to do. I'm just saying that it's unfair to demand anything beyond just the bare construct at this stage.

I am lured into posting.

The fact that the data mining payout is increased in this area leads me to believe that there will be a tradeoff: namely that you are attackable by everyone in the construct. I would imagine it's a balancing measure to keep 50 people from sitting in there data mining together. You have to find a good hiding place if you want to camp and data mine (or a good team protecting you... a team you can trust SMILEY ) or else you'll have to fight to stay in there.

Plus... I remember making a post a long time ago where I prophesized that a new area open to all levels would suck everyone out of the city and then all our new players would really think MxO's a ghost town. The FFA construct area would prevent people from idling AFK in the new area just for fun.

Lastly, from my experience with the FFA areas during the Joker Finale, being flagged FFA makes you immediately attackable by everyone, regardless of your level. I imagine that's how this construct will be.

Indeed, Proc - at the end of the day, this is a very good thing.   I am by no means complaining - just adding in my two $i on how it could be even better.

While this is in the phase of being completed, I think it's important people express concerns/wishes, so they can be addressed at this late development stage rather than after its actually been added.

Mentioning FFA all the time reminds of an idea I had when I first saw FFA: An expansion of the PvP command!
Normally /pvp flags you to players from other orgs, right? What about an extension by using an additional optional parameter?

e.g. /pvp [extent] where extent = {hostile, friendly, all} and {hostile} being default when extent is not specified

Of course that would need also restrictions, since one could jump between {hostile} and {friendly} to escape gankage. The restriction would be additive "extents", meaning e.g. if you'd /pvp hostile, then do a /pvp friendly you'd be in {all} mode, instead of {friendly}.

Then the next issue would be with people who are only "semi" flagged (or not flagged at all) and attack a another "semi-flag" or an "all-flag". Would an attack automatically trigger an additional flag for the attacked "extent"?

I hate to be the pessimist but I give it a week or two before people get bored of it and complain wanting new content.

"Why couldn't you have added this?"
"This would've made it Ub3r 1337 aw3s0m3"

In saying that however, this place looks fantastic and I'd love to see lots of people using it regularly? - New Mara Central? LOL I think not but we can all hope eh? SMILEY

Nice job Rare, I'm sure everyone from all sides of this game - RP'rs and PvP'rs that is - appreciate the work you've put into it.

No.
If you want no combat stay in the dam megacity.
Constructs are built for pvp

Oh, and can we get that nifty top-down perspective on the existing districts at some point? That'd be really cool.

Someone missed the point lol.

Construct <> Archieve. I don't see a perma flag in the Zion, Merv or Mech Construct whatsoever.

Pshh, Vinia. You were a little too late >_>

Edit: Ja, I know what you mean Alt. But if this thing is enterable by all levels (1-50) setting standard /pvp all flag (<-- support the idea! see 6 posts upwards) is not a wise decision. Even on Vector, PvP only starts at lvl 16.
