I have every Awakened ability loaded and maxed for my level (41) as well as the akido tree (maxed)

I'm no noob when it comes to MxO but could someone explain what I'm doing wrong when a Karate GM (also lvl 41) creams me with me barely able to scratch him? so I rehack my RSI attributes so my belief is 29 and focus 21 and he still pwns me ... (worse than before if you can believe it)

Any tips to killer MA vs MA (pre CR2 I was an arbalest)

You should unload some of those Awakened abillities.. but use concentration and determination and one of the Hyper block-dodge etc and then mix Kung fu with Karate that's what you're looking for m8.

Yeh, some people have trouble blocking, some hitting, some with damage so you have to play to a tree which sorts those problems out, if you can't hit I'd use the kung fu style, it gives the best accuracy, low defence and normal damage. if you don't do enough damage then I'd use the karate tree, it's good on damage, normal on defence but not good on accuracy but there is always martial arts prowess to boost your damage for a short while, and then theres if you can't block then use aikido but aikido isn't brilliant on damage and normal on accuracy but brilliant on defence.

ok just load up the esentials in awakened - evade , concentration ad desperation (you never know when you may need it ) then load up 2 of the hyper abilitys, hyper deflect for one (viral) and another of your choice, and seing as you are using the ma tree i would recomend hyper block (melee)

the reason i say 2 hyper abilities is that hyper deflect can be used with any other hyper ability and will protect you from hackers while in interlock (if you pvp) or if you are dueling a hacker.

then loadout your main tree fully with all side abilites that you use.

now load out another ma tree preferably kung fu (for a little extra damage)

also a good point to note is the very first hacker ability on the hacker tree when leveled will provide some very nice is regen (10-15% if im not mistaken) so load that too for an added bonus

hope that helped SMILEY

Thanks guys and gals... some good advice there.

Currently I'm running Aikido (I'm lvl 42 so only 82 memory points to use)

I load that right up to punch-reversal catch slam (or whatever it's called)

I then load concentration and determination, hyper-deflect, dodge, and block (I only ever load hyper-sense if I know I'm up against a knife thrower... like Tengu).

I tend to stick with dodge and deflect as MA usually provides me enough mele defence / resistance and MA prowess boosts my damage nicely to compliment my Aikido (which gives me nice defence).

I actually was using the tactics you suggested. I just thought maybe there was something I was doing wrong to lose so badly. It turns out I was fighting a sploiter. It's just a little harder to spot a sploiter these days as your roll results aren't right in your face anymore.

A standard rule of thumb is to max out your two main stats then place the rest into Vitality. I know of some people who have deviated from this and do pretty well for themselves, so it's not necessarily required.

I use a Karate/Kung Fu build myself. I have all of Karate and almost all of Kung Fu loaded. It's all about tweaking your abilities to match what you know and understand and what you're comfortable with. If you don't know what you're doing with your newfound, godly build, then you're not going to get very far.

practice makes perfect.

Go fight NPC's around your level and practice ability combos to keep your opponent helpless while you pound on him.

MA prowess helps a lot, especially for aikido.

i would advice against fighting npc`s your level, if your 50 a group of 4 or 50 lvl 50 nps are easy pray , duel some good player chars instead and speak to those that beat you, most people will be willing to share loadout and tactics with you

Now im not claiming to be great , but im always up for dueling so send me a /t ingame if you wish to smokeydemon (if ur on syntax)

i just read ur post again and noticed your lvl 41 my bad SMILEY(

Thanks for the advice guys...  This is all good stuff.

I've since fine-tuned my CR2 fighting so now I kick backside comfortably, with a couple of nifty tricks to do with the order I execute moves and countering tactics used by my opponent.

Like I mentioned earlier the problem turned out to be style-stacking.
