I ran across this tonight, and I was surprised I hadn't heard about it yet.  It looks like MxO will have a retail presence after all, although maybe not by itself.  In any case, maybe it'll bring in some more players.  Here's the press release:

EXPERIENCE THE BEST OF ONLINE GAMING IN ONE OFFERING WITH

THE STATION ACCESS™ COLLECTION

Sony Online Entertainment Folds All Five of Its Hit Online PC Games into One Box

SAN DIEGO , CA – February 14, 2006 – Sony Online Entertainment Inc. ( SOE ), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced the Station Access™ Collection , a bundled anthology that includes the top online PC games published or developed by SOE to date. The Station Access Collection is scheduled to be available at retail on March 14 and will carry a suggested retail price of $39.99.

“Online gaming has become a huge part of PC gamers’ lives over the last few years and we felt that now would be the perfect time to introduce new players to our diverse line-up of online games,” said Mike Lustenberger, vice president, marketing, Sony Online Entertainment. “This collection includes everything from first-person action to high fantasy role-playing to piloting X-Wings in deep space combat. The Station Access Collection is a great deal for players, collecting five very different online worlds together for the price of a single game.”

The Station Access Collection brings together all of SOE ’s hit online PC titles in one collection. Included in the package are EverQuest® Evolution™, EverQuest® II, The Matrix Online™ and PlanetSide® Aftershock , as well as Star Wars Galaxies ®, developed in conjunction with LucasArts. The collection will include 30-day trials for new players of each of the five games, allowing them to play with hundreds of thousands of other people around the globe. The Station Access Collection will only be available on DVD -ROM.

EverQuest Evolution - Immerse yourself in what hundreds of thousands have already experienced, a land with no limits to the imagination, where excitement and myth reign supreme. EverQuest Evolution includes the original EQ along with the first five expansions to the game.

EverQuest II - EverQuest II is the next generation of massively multiplayer gaming, a huge online world where thousands of players come together for adventure and community. Featuring breathtaking graphics and a vast, beautiful game world to explore, EverQuest II sets the standard for graphical realism as players are immersed in the game’s exciting locales and dangerous lands.

PlanetSide Aftershock - The complete PlanetSide collection , which features the original game, the Core Combat expansion pack, and BattleFrame Robotics. Experience intense online action in the form of infantry assaults, ground-based vehicles mobilizations, and dynamic air battles, as you join one of three empires and engage your enemies in large-scale battles and tactical base assaults for total control of the planetary continents of Auraxis™.

The Matrix Online - Continuing the saga of the movie trilogy, players of The Matrix Online will inhabit an enormous urban sprawl, which spreads for miles in all directions. There are subways, nightclubs, skyscrapers, and dark alleys that all seem normal on the surface, but beneath this pedestrian exterior, a secret war is being waged for the survival of humanity and machine alike.

Star Wars Galaxies - Immerse yourself in Star Wars® in a way you've only dreamed! Star Wars Galaxies is the first massively multiplayer online role-playing game based on the Star Wars universe that lets players live the movies with thousands of other players from around the world. The Station Access Collection includes the original Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided as well as the first expansion, Jump to Lightspeed .

Your wrong Nubious81, they arent re-releasing the game with new boxes and stuff...it's just gonna be Direct2Drive and this box set it sounds like from what Walrus is saying. I hope they atleast do abunch of ads for this box set and do alittle blurb about MxO. Otherwise, from the sounds of it, I doubt they will really put out exclusive ads for just MxO.

Maybe if MxO really picks up, and SOE really picks up business, they'd do ads for the game if it becomes like an underground hit...we can only hope I guess.

Well, it got me!  I was checking out direct2drive and saw MxO advertised.  I had always been interested but not sure and I was already in EQ.  Well, I checked out SOE site and saw station access will cover EQ and MxO so I bought MxO and upgraded :smileyvery-happy:

Now I can play EQ, EQ2, or MxO.  By the way, I seem to have missed a good one with MxO.  I just got it yesterday and I have been having a blast.  I am on Recursion server.

Isnt that what is should be? I mean with the whole feel of the Matrix I really do think it should be a lowkey underground type game, which it already is.  There are those who play...redpills and those who dont...bluepills. There are plenty of folks still sleeping in there pods, we do what we can to recruit. When they are ready we will awaken them from there pods.
