Question about pistols.

Hi all. I'm a returning player and
enjoying the combat changes a lot. I tried out martial arts, but
decided to go back  to pistols like my old charcter had. But after
leveling up my skills and trying it out, I had a couple questions.

I
noticed that I seemed to be doing a lot less damage with pistols than I
had been doing with martial arts. I then    
realized i had my attribute points in focus and belief. I ran the rsi
hack mission and reset to 15 focus/20 perception, and going by the
bonus screen it is giving me +30% to balistic damage. I then tried out
a mission with my new setup, but my damage didn't change. Is there
something I'm not understanding about how the attribute bonuses work in
cr 2.0? I'm level 17 by the way, with all skills maxed at 17, if it
matters.

One more question. Going by what it lists for the
bonuses for attributes, why would I be getting a 30% bonus for 20
perception? Shouldn't it be 40% if each point is +2%, or does the bonus
only kick in after a certian point value is reached? If my math is
right, attributes only start giving bonuses at every point past 5, is
that correct?

Maybe that +30% is going to ballistic damage in interlock because it is normal to have higher damage in interlock than free fire. As for your other question there is probably a cap so it doesn't allow you to get beyond a certain point at your level otherwise it would be too easy. Keep gaining levels and it will go up.

What were your stats to begin with before you used the stat hack?  Possibly there may be a cap on your stats at lower levels, but  have not noticed anything.  I may look into this on my alt to check it out. 

On the bonus you are receiving from each stat point, yes it only starts to take effect of these on each level the stats are above 5.

guns do a lot less damage than martial art but guns also have a lot less defence anyway the bonus's only are for abilities below your hotbar it won't give you 30pts it will say make 10pts ballistic accuracy into 13pts ballistic accuracy and thats how it works now so you want to use an ability which buffs damage and I think it's firearms skill in the soilder tree

I dunno about alot less damage. I generally fall about 25 to 50 points under a kung fu artist. Defense wise, duelists generally tend to be up there, as far as defense goes, and against alot of martial artists in duels, I have found alot don't like to duel duelists.

So, defensively speaking, at least as far as duelist goes, defense is rather high. On the other hand, I would say a scattershot is the other extreme of a duelist, they do massive damage, but their limitation is that alot of their good moves are outside of interlock only, which is kinda odd since most of their best specials require interlock.

Each path has their own rewards and abilities, but, the reson everyone picks martial artist right now, is because of a certain "exploit" going around, that makes ungodly damage easy.
