Things are a bit hectic today, as the entire studio is rearranging seats. The good news for me is I'm getting a window seat. The bad news is I have to move a lot of stuff from my current seat to the far side of the office. And, in the meantime, it's not like regular work stops while I'm taking care of this.

Fortunately, work has been going well on the Anniversary Event, so the disruption won't hurt the team too much. Well, I guess that's assuming there are actual desks in the spots the guys are moving to. I suppose Dracomet could work from a couch, though....

I . . . don't . . . care

Just for the record, i do.

I like the 'bloggy-ness' of the other sides, its nice to have a personal 'feel' and insight. As long as top issues/info is there too i see nothing but a good combo ^.^

also,

Clients expect a bit of decorum out of the people that work for them.

....I think you'll find he "works for" himself. Anything you get out of it is a bonus.

God.  It's unreal.

I'm part of a testing community now (Huge, bigger than WoW's testing community was) where the Devs, act like Devs.  I've talked to them one on one VOIP.  But they don't cross the line.  Although we've gotten along very well, we've shared drinks, and we share the same ideas, the treat me as any other tester.  Although we're friendly, they knew their role, played by the rules, and even had to give me a slap on the hand when I deserved it.  I couldn't imagine playing suck-up to them.  I am who I am.  I've always called them like I see them.

Business, is business.  My honest to god opinion?  People have sucked up for so long . . .have played the part of the sycophants (OMG, X DEV MENTIONED ME!) that unfortunately, some of them, in this very backward and wayward failing MMO, have actually started to believe their own press of those who print entire threads of "OMG, how awesome you are, because you did your job!"

But LOTRO was not that great, noVus. The Turbine developers were all cool folks. Tiggs even offered to help me fix my BSOD problem back in the day but I fixed it not too long after the offer myself. Though I didn't enjoy their game, I did heavily enjoy their attitudes.

Unless I am now totally mistaken about what you're referring to?

....hi, i don't suck up to anyone and i still don't know what you're talking about.

all i know is, you made a nerd rampage-tastic post out of nowhere where you basically said HI DEV! YOU'RE MY WAGE SLAVE, ALSO MAKE MY DINNER and then made a bunch of frankly bizarre statements about clients and blogs and running  businesses that made no sense.

and i lolled.

.

As did I.
NoVus, you have the right to your opinion of course, but then so does everyone else. I don't suck up to developers but I enjoy the level of interaction between them and the community at large, it promotes the feeling of everyone being involved in the continuing evolution of the game.
Dev's are people at the end of the day, from what you're saying it sounds like you want them to act like robots wake up, go into work, do only what they need to do to keep the game running and content updated, only interact with the community if essential, go home...

Business, is business, as you say but a better business is one which you know your clientèle and they know you...
