And there it is in Maximum Verbosity - down to the very last crash.  One more thing that probably doesn't relate to the problem at all, but MxO is not installed in the /program files/ directory.

Hl3w is correct its a texture issue with vista, and so far there is no fix for the problem.

lol I see your mac address.

Anyways I had similar issues...not the same...just similar, and like my characters clothes would be efd up.

Try going in and manually adjusting your graphics settings from high quality and high ram usage to your own made up quality, tuning down certian features available in high detail, like turn off the shiny overlay, are buildings really that shiny? You don tneed that, that should help with some glossy issues.

The problem is caused by certain textures in Vista. You will find that some viewing angles will do it too (eg: stand at the mara centra harline and face directly away from debir court, tilt the camera up a bit and slowly pan around towards the church... you'll notice the texture scaling goes bananas)

It seems to be a math limits problem (ie: at certain angles and with certain sized textures in view textures lose their scaling ... either they go really tiny and tile or they go massive and everything only gets the top left pixel's colour of the apropriate texture)... these types of error tend to happen when one item has a lower limit of 1 and the counter goes down to 0 or even into the negatives. It can also happen when a number gets so big that it wraps around and goes negative.

Whatever the cause it's a ruddy pain that you can't do anything about except by using Windows XP or changiny your outfit (and hope that noone else is wearing the clothes that cause a problem near you).

I stumbled across something that I hadn't tried and it seems to help.  I've been able to wear outfits that I couldn't before, and I've been able to go into neighborhoods (mainly southard) that I couldn't before.  I still ran Matrix in a folder seperate from the Program Files folder, and I still ran compatability property of WinXPsp2.  What I changed was setting the launcher.exe and the matrix.exe to run as administrator.  I don't know Vista's inner-workings enough to know if compatability mode has to be run as admin or not, but so far, it seems to be a "fix" for me... wish I hadn't thrown out all those cool clothesSMILEY.

To fix the vista and some xp problems read below:

Fix Compatibility With Vista:

1. Goto My Computer
2. Goto C:/ Or whatever drive letter you are using.
3. Goto Program Files
4. Goto "Matrix Online" folder
5. Ok once there Right Click "matrix.exe" and select properties.
a. On the tab called "Compatibility" set it to be compatible with Windows XP.
6. Ok once there Right Click "launcher.exe" and select properties.
a. On the tab called "Compatibility" set it to be compatible with Windows XP.

Then the compatibility problems should be fixed.

To help stop the harassment on using or opening programs on Vista read ahead:

( If you already have (UAC) disabled don't do this procedure )

1. Click the Start orb in the lower left corner.
2. Then on the right side of the window that popped up click "Control Panel"
3. Then look for the button called "User Accounts" and click it.
4. Then on the bottom there should be a link called "Turn User Account Control on or off."
5. Then there will be a check box with "User Account Control (UAC) to help your computer.", go ahead and uncheck it you don't really need it and it sometimes interferes with multiple programs.

Further below i am making a small tutorial for people using the firewall called "Kaspersky" to help from MxO being blocked or slowed down:

1. Click Start and then click All Programs.
2. Then hold your mouse over "Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0" folder and then move it over to "Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0" with the K in the left of it.
3. Then a window should pop-up, now in the Protection tab click the "Firewall" link.
4. Once there click the Configure button.
5. Now under Filteration System click "Settings".
6. Once there this little list is the list of allowed programs.

7. Now click "Add" and then browse.
a. Then look for the "launcher.exe" file and click it.
b. Then a rules for "launcher.exe will pop-up click add on the right side of the window.
c. For the Rule Name don't worry about and the properties don't worry about and additional don't worry about.
d. The "Rules Description" is something you will change but for now just click ok.
e. You will see now you have a new rule, now click "Add" once more and forget everything but the "Rules Description", but this time where it says "TCP" click it and then it should turn into "UDP" and then click ok. Now you have those two rules.

8. Now click "Add" and then browse.
a. Then look for the "matrix.exe" file and click it.
b. Then a rules for "matrix.exe will pop-up click add on the right side of the window.

Explanations for some errors that MxO has been having:

The reason why some people are getting the character already in use problem is a bug that SOE is currently trying to fix it isn't anything vital it will soon go away so don't panic like you account has been stolen (Like i did) and just stay calm and it will go away eventually.
