Alrighty, I think we can all agree last years Fan Faire was a pretty successful one for MxO. We had our name and a short video clip up on the screen at the community address, we had at least one dedicated computer booth set up for the game and we had bigger and louder numbers than the previous year creating an altogether better impression of our game and, from what we could tell, turning a few heads.

The purpose of this thread, besides discuss the lead up to the next Fan Faire and who will all be going or at least trying to, is to make suggestions both in 'an ideal world' and 'reasonable' to which we could improve our promotion and our own experience of our game during the next Fan Faire.

In an 'ideal world' I'd love to see MxO with it's own booth, like The Agency and that kind of thing though I don't actually remember an SWG/EQ booth, but eh my memory is sketchy, so those booths are probably reserved for the likes of up and coming games.

So, anyways, I think some reasonable suggestions/some not would be;

-MxO trial keys coming with every bag that's handed out at registration.

-Perhaps some kind of video demonstration/tutotial at one of the panels taking potential new players. If people are interested having recieved the trial key, having this at a panel would then allow them to have an introduction to the game visually with no real hassell to them and they'd have an idea of how to start without running around like headless chickens, though that is part of the fun sometimes.

-Perhaps, depending on the quality of the video, in our short video clip at the community address it could actually be scenes from a player video, perhaps the winning one from Phracks contest or a seperate contest run closer to the time.

-Some kind of display of some of the artistic design done by some of our players, to show the real beauty of the game off and the artistic potential. (This is unlikely, I'd expect)

-If I recall, Warner Brothers is a pain when authorising stuff like Morpheus' RSI etc to be put on alot of the Fan Faire merchandise. Is there any kind of Matrix Online RSI that could be put on the fan faire merchandise? An RSI with just green code streaking down it, for example?

Hum, thats all I can think of just now D:

As far as destinations go, I'm easy. Somewhere close to wherever I end up in the US next year would be nice though, incase it's later than usual this time around :p

Well, I have a great time. I will be going to Fan Faire again where ever it is.

I just think SOE should start getting the ready for next year so we can know when and where FF09 will be alittle sooner.

If we could get at least one of Yas requests it would be a success.

Walrus said for next fan faire he is going to try and get us a booth as 30+ showed up this year for the fan faire, So hopefully he can make that happen. It would be a big plus for us to get a booth as we would be able to stay there and talk about Mxo and answer any questions people would have, instead of us all just wondering around the hotel with Rarebit. It seemed this year at fan faire quite a few were interested in Mxo when we were at the computer stand playing it.

I agree with Yasamuu about having trial keys in the bags for 09's Fan Faire, I think we would get a good deal of people that way. The silent auction was full of shame as there was nothing MxO related at all, hopefully this year we can get a couple of shirts or a game box signed by rarebit, virrago, walrus.

I'll add more later when I think of it.

Ah yes, I forgot about that. We had the server banners for MxO in 07 but there was nothing in 08 but it'd be good to have something there in 09 for sure. I suppose a lot of it comes down to what WB approves of and doesn't, but I figured the sooner we start thinking of ideas the more time we have to barter with WB about what it will and won't approve of.

Having some kind of Live Event, which happens on a server drawn at random or the most popular (syntax) which just showcases all aspects of the game (RP and PvP, amongst other stuff) would be great.

And of course, I'm with Craint, I'll be going where ever it is because of the general enjoyment had both in and outside of the actual FF event.

Absolutely. I guess you guys are maybe used to hotels or buildings being that kind of super-sized? I can't say I am, coming from a semi-rural town, despite the time I spend up in the City. So, it's quite strange actually being in a hotel that is so vast.

I was planning to go to FanFaire and create a couple of large posters and print them out on the college banner printer and bring them to FanFaire cause WB is useless at that kind of stuff, but yea might not even go now the way the game is headed. If I do I'll try and get those posters done to get MxO a bit of advertising.

//_-  Just because you didn't get to sneak into a meeting (you've gotten away with it every other time in the past) isn't a very good reason not to participate in fan faire.

I would like to go next year if I have enough money. In the upcoming semester I may be paying for an overpriced apartment for school, so we'll see.

I doubt his banning from the Machine meeting was the sole reason.  Take a look around the simulation sometime.  You can almost see the content disappearing from underneath your feet.

Weird, some new content appeared on my face in the form of a gas mask, also in the form of a jacket and some pants... and some boots and glasses too. And in the form of npcs, one being Wright and BIP. Holiday event has some new NPCs too, and probably a new quest, according to some of Rare's dev shots. New clothing too, lots of it.

I know you feel the strong sense of right to back up a former EPN member and possibly factionmate, bro, but seriously, disappearing content? The game is going through some changes right now, and while I may understand if you think times are slow in-game right now, we just to give Rarebit some time. I, personally, like what we have this chapter.

IN CONCLUSION: We need events like FAN FAIRE to give the game the spotlight it needs, so this game can flourish and maybe in the future we can get some more content that you so rightfully strive for, my friend.
