I don't see why the pills LESIG was given at their disposal couldn't be used by players wanting to tell a story

Who is gonna make sure they are only used for story telling?

Who cares if people use them for pvp?  Put them on a reuse timer of 24 hours or something.

Then you just relog and ignore the 24 hour reuse time.

So what's the deal with the Ad Space for Rent signs? Weren't they all supposed to be removed?

I know it's been suggested before, I know it's been done before, so why not put some player created adverts on the left over dedicated Ad signs around the city? I'm sure Virrago or even an Intern or someone could run a competition or something, as many people know, it was done before. I'm sure 9mmfu or Dracomet could add the resulting images to the game world.

I think what Wally is alluding to, is a few weeks back some trolls popped ingame and where using every Dev/Admin tool in the book. Meatwadding, Assasin Abs, Codebombs, Spawns, Insta-Flag, you name it. Some ppl found it amusing, others where just being relentlessly harassed.  I encountered one such Troll under the name of "The Failure" on Recursion, turns out it was a.k.a GodTier - and his other pals.  When I sent in the CCR tickets, I also let Virrago know, quite loudly (I might add).  Only thing Virrago said was that these players/trolls had found an exploit in some item or something. Allowing them access to Admin/Dev abs and controls. I was told it was taken care of and the sploit has been fixed. (does make one wonder what that item was ... just curious)

Now, if it was some kind of god-like sploit that's one thing.  But if Wally means giving some players such permissions ... without the rest of our knowladge.  Then there IS something seriously wrong here and my bitter gripes about Player Favoritism with the Devs aren't all that unfounded.  Thanks Walrus, and Rarebit - I always knew it.

That's always been the problem with this game from the start - it reflects the neglect of the ppl running it.  The game itself is only a tool, a thing. It's the ppl who shape it, build it and interact in it that make it what it is.  If only we could have a team that has more self-discipline in their jobs and sense of responsibility, accountability, and passion for what they do.  Perhaps with a Dev team who cared about it, and went by their employment rules, didn't play favs, we could have a more profitable, and better game.  But till then ... so be it Wally.

Sorry that was kinda scathing ... but whatever. Needs to be said.

As for the update itself - meh. Not surprised about the items from Omega at all, kinda expected it.  I stopped using Vista when my Vista locked itself out, which it still does on my machine when I try to install it again.  So I just said f'it and stuck with XP.  Game runs better on XP anyway.  High lvl RSI captures should have a 15% or 20% drop rate instead of the 10%, simply because of the difficulty involved in getting them for individuals.

Yep,sad thing is most of the players that hung around in the last two years would show one face to soe and then all plot in their own vents and forums on how to grow their epeens and "matter" in a videogame.Too bad they ruined it for everyone else.

I agree, absolutely 100%

Nail firmly hit on head. The game has been ruined, solely because of this.

To boil that riveting and profoundly eye-opening argument down to its base form;

"No favouritism for me = unabashed favouritism for everybody else"

Thank you, Darkhawk. Thank you. Your tireless dedication to unveiling the truth and piercing the injustice of this matter has finally exploded this corruption to the public. The world will never be the same.

Quite frankly, I'm humbled.

Come on PBlade, open your eyes to the all conquering truth here! The game has clearly been destroyed by blatant favouritism. I mean, it's not the lack of funding, the small dev team, lack of promotion, lack of exposure, the misplaced expectations, the crappy servers or the fading spotlight on an old franchise thats caused the issues down the years. Of course not, it's the sheer narrowminded favourtism shown by the devs to a small group of players that can do what they want, when they want. Because really, the devs are more than happy to urinate away SOE's money while pleasing 12-15 people out of however many thousands of subscribed players there is(was).

Duh.

Trying to mock doesn't undo the truth Yasa ......show me what other major succesful mmo in which regular players are given moderator positions, special live event characters and in game items that are not available to anyone else....

None, and you know why?because it is a recipe for disaster..I agree that there were many other factors in mxo that have been negative, but this was a leading contributor.

I could post links to vent recordings and screenshots, but that would just get me a forum ban so I'll rely here on the fact that the smart people know what bs has gone on.

Sorry, I found it hard not to mock.

You have to look to the reasons why players have become mods and why LESIG exists. Why? Lack of funding. There is not the budget there to recruit moderators or a Live Event team, so rightly or wrongly, this is what has happend to our game. All successful MMO's on the market have the exact things I listed that this game does not and this is where the problem lies, and the things you are flagging up are an by-product of the issues that I named.

I would have to argue that some player-mods have been successful at keeping the forums a cool place to hang out, while taking the workload off of our forum admin at the time. Removing that workload from the admins allows them to do something semi-meaningful. A forum without mods is chaos. A forum with too many mods, is like a graveyard. I would also suggest that LESIG did harness the interest of most players, while being a flawed program in some aspects. (No program is perfect) which in turn kept the game ticking over with subscription fees.

I would encourage you to post the vent recordings and screenshots, I mean, as far as everyone seems to say around here 'The game is on it's death bed' so, why bother hiding this truth? If there's funky goings on, you might as well get it out in the open, right?

Can't argue with your point in that post at all.....but no to posting because death bed or not...those kinds of posts get deleted fast enough that most don't see them....and with the station pass, dev or not,mxo will be around as part of the package for a long time.

Am I the only one who thinks the Patcher's Headgear looks better than the Omega Headgear? I've been wanting a black Headgear for a long time, but everytime I look at it it seems... well... plain.

Or you could load them on a site and send us some links. I'd love to hear my own voice view them.
