Inner Demons. Part 1: Prologue

“Ignore that. He’s irrelevant. We need to talk.” Hold in there. Reaper’s voice faded, and then disappeared, leaving Oranos with himself, and his demons. The voice came from the darkness. Oranos was tied to a wooden chair. He was in a dark room. He could not see either the ceiling or the opposite side of the room. From the small part of the floor he could see, it looked like he was in a broken down warehouse in Westview, but this could not be the Matrix. This was hell. The room seemed to be engulfed in darkness.

“Who’s there?” Oranos feebly asked. Up ahead in the darkness he saw eyes.  Five pairs of eyes. Each one of them were different, yet in another way the same. The pair of eyes in the middle slowly got closer.

“It’s me brother” came the dramatic sounding drawl of Sonaro.

“We’re not brothers. You know that.” Oranos was in pain. He was tied tightly to the chair.

“You know, you’re not in any position to be giving out orders. You’re almost dead” Sonaro’s voice was full of mock concern.

“Really? Only almost? I thought this was hell.”

“Oh it is! A self imposed hell. We’re trying to help you, you know. We really are.” Oranos could now see an outline of Sonaro. However, he seemed more physically imposing than normal. Oranos assumed it was the shadows.

“And who the hell are we?” Oranos knew he meant the other pairs of eyes, but he had no idea who they belonged to.

“My friends! Our brothers! We need them!” Oranos could see in the shadows the same wild gesticulating that Sonaro usually did.

“I’M NOT YOUR BROTHER! YOU ARE NOTHING TO DO WITH ME AND I DON’T NEED YOU!” Oranos was fuming.

“Such anger. Such hostility. Such…denial. Why can’t you just accept it? Fact is; you’re trapped.” Sonaro put as much malice into the last two words as he could.

“What is this place? The Matrix?”

“Good question. We’re going to let you find out on your own. We’re going to make you see the truth.” Sonaro walked even closer and Oranos could now see him fully. He was distorted it seemed. He was taller than before, with longer arms. His face had the same even look, but his eyes were even madder than normal. He was warped. He was wearing a silver and black robe which contrasted greatly against the rags Oranos was in.

“What the hell happened to you?” Oranos asked.

“Enough questions. Time to seek answers.” Sonaro waved his hand and suddenly there was no floor. Oranos was falling, tied to the chair, into what seemed like an endless abyss.

Inner Demons: Part 2

Oranos had been falling for what seemed like ages. It could have been minutes, hours, days, he didn’t know anymore. He felt like he should be dead. Then he saw the ground. At the rate he was falling he would be smashed into a million pieces. There was nothing he could do though. He was tied to the chair still and falling so fast he barely had a second to think. Then he hit the ground.

The chair shattered. But he did not. Every inch of his body was in agony. He did not understand how he could be alive, or how he could get up, but he could. “Where am I?” he said, but there was no one to answer him.

He was in room like the one he had fell from. It, as the other had, looked like a building from Westview. Unlike the first room that had no windows, nor door this one had a way out. A door, at the other side of the room.

Oranos walked to the door. He opened it and walked through. He was standing in a street. The sky was murky, but it was daytime. The area looked very empty though. Oranos could not tell where he was. Then he heard a voice. It was not coming from outside. It was something from within. It was not something he could explain.

I am your remorse. Come seek me where they lay

“What does that mean?” Oranos asked. There was no reply. He felt strange. His body was still in pain, but he felt drawn to somewhere. It was as though he suddenly knew where to go. He started to walk down the street, and turned to the right.

On the pavement opposite he saw a small child. He had his back facing Oranos, but he was sitting down. Oranos ran over to him. “Hello.” Oranos said. The boy did not move nor make a sound. Oranos moved around to face him.

“What’s wrong?” asked Oranos. The boy screamed, and as he did so his face contorted. It reminded him of a Picasso painting. And there was something inhuman about the scream. Oranos stumbled backwards and fell over. The deformed boy got up and ran down the street Oranos and had just turned from. He would have followed him but he still felt drawn to the opposite direction.

 *****

He had been walking for about an hour. Nobody else had appeared, but Oranos felt like he was being watched. In some ways this place seemed like the Matrix but it could not be. Oranos wondered if he had been placed into some kind of program archive. Perhaps it was the only way they could keep him alive. He remembered his RSI crumbling after defeating the Assassin’s weakened form. The thought disturbed him.

He was now standing in front of a graveyard. This was where he was being led to but why? He had to enter. The first thing that struck him as wrong when he entered was the gravestones. They were written in Matrix code. He continued to walk through the graveyard, trying to make it to the centre. As he got closer he felt the sky growing darker.

At the centre of the graveyard was a statue. It was an angel. He could read the inscription of the statue this time as it was not in Matrix code. The inscription read:

Ibis

Captain of the Freelife

Slaughtered by Oranos

“No!” exclaimed Oranos. “It wasn’t me!”

“But it was.” Perched on top of the statue was a man. He was dressed like Sonaro was when he had seen him earlier, except the robe was gold and black rather than silver and black. He had golden hair, and strange golden markings across his face. They ran down from his hair, stopping at his eyes, and continuing under them. His eyes were red. They were shrewd giving him a sharp stare. But at the same time, he had a sad look about him. As though he was carrying a heavy weight. He jumped into the air and landed behind Oranos standing up.

“Who are you? You were the voice earlier!” Despite the differences, Oranos could see that his face resembled Sonaro’s…and his own.

“Yes it was me. I am Rosano.” Rosano waved his hand in Oranos’ and the statue’s direction. Suddenly, Oranos felt a hand grasping his ankle. He looked down to see a hand sticking out of the dirt.

Inner Demon: Part 3

The hand was dragging Oranos down. He tried to free himself but the grip was too strong. He fell to the floor. Suddenly, a head freed itself from the dirt. It was Ibis.

“Why are you doing this to me?!” Oranos shouted at Rosano.

“You’re a murderer. You sicko!” Rosano spat at Oranos.

“You killed me.” The mutilated image of Ibis said.

“No! That was Sonaro!” Oranos was being pulled closer to Ibis.

“No! It was you!” shouted Rosano.

“Now it’s your turn.” Ibis voice was cold. Oranos tried to escape, and finally managed to kick Ibis’ head with his other foot. He got free and stood up. He started to approach Rosano. Rosano waved his hand again and suddenly both of Oranos’ ankles were being clawed at by hands free from the dirt.

“What are you doing?!” Oranos fell to the ground. As more hands and heads began to appear out of the ground. Two, then five, then ten.

“Making you face your crimes.” They were dragging him down. Now he was on the floor underneath him they were starting to pile on him. Smother him. All the while whispering to him. All of them wore the face of Ibis.

“Why did you kill me?”

“You betrayed me!”

“We looked after you!”

“You butchered me!”

Oranos felt suffocated as he was being buried in a human grave. Yes he had killed Ibis, whether he could admit it or not. And he had not felt anything as he had butchered him, and mutilated his face, and now he was paying.

“That’s right” Rosano hissed. “Let the remorse sink in. It hurts doesn’t it?”

Oranos felt no more pain than he had since he had first come to this place. The pain had not lessoned, yet it just did not bother him anymore.

“You killed me!” another corpse hissed. Oranos no longer cared. He needed to escape. He needed to live. Something awoke inside him.

“Yes!” he said as his body started to tense up. “And I’d do it AGAIN!” He managed to throw the corpses off of him and get up. They rushed at him, but he met each one of them with a punch or a kick. He felt their bones shatter as his foot connected with their skulls. But their numbers were not slowing down. Oranos looked around when he could spare half a second. Rosano was waving his hand causing more to pour out of the graves. They were flooding him. Then Oranos saw it. It definitely had not been there earlier but in the hands of the statue was a sword. It was long, and thin, but very sharp. He ran towards it. Kicking and punching his way through the onslaught of mutilated bodies.

He reached the sword. As his hand reached out for it, another hand grabbed his ankle. It started to pull him down, but he kicked out and freed himself. As quickly as he could, he pulled the sword from the statue. However, it would not be enough. In order to stop the horde he would have to finish Rosano.

Oranos was now as determined and focused as he had ever been. Rosano was several meters away. He started to walk towards him, slashing, disembowelling, and decapitating every corpse that got in his way. He broke into a run, not stopping the pace. He moved his sword in such a way that none of the bodies could stop him. As he got closer to Rosano they were getting desperate. The bodies just through themselves at Oranos, but they could not get past his blade. Finally he reached Rosano.

“I feel no remorse.” Oranos said as he plunged the sword into Rosano’s chest. He left it there and stood backwards. The other bodies were gone. Rosano fell to his knees, and then to the floor.

Oranos was about to sit down and rest, when suddenly he found himself falling once again into darkness.

But nah in theory I probably copied alot of things in doing my story. I'm just interested in insanity and stuff o.0

Inner Demons: Part 4

Oranos hit the ground with a crash. He did not think he could be any more pain than he already was, but he managed it. His whole body was racked with agony. It took him a few moments to get to his feet. When he had finally managed it, he looked at his surroundings. He was in a room that looked like it belonged to a building in international. However, it was wrecked in the same style as the room Oranos had landed in earlier was.

He left the room through the only exit, and found himself on another empty street. Though not much time had passed since he had killed Rosano and fell again, the sky looked different, as did the atmosphere in general. The sky was still murky but it had a strange crimson tint to it. Almost blood-like. Then his mind exploded in pain. He fell to his knees as a voice spoke inside him.

I am your honour. I’ll be on the battleground.

As before, Oranos felt drawn to an unknown location. He began to walk down the street. When he turned the corner he found that the next street was not completely empty. He could see towards the end of this new street, two youngsters. He began to walk over to them.

They were fighting. They both looked exactly the same except for one of them had red hair, while the other had purple hair. “Hey stop!” Oranos shouted at them, as they were beating each other senseless.

They stopped and looked at him. Then suddenly Oranos’ eardrum once again felt like it was going to explode as both children let out a horrifying scream. As with the child Oranos had earlier encountered their faces started to contort until they no longer looked human. Oranos ran.

He wished he knew what was going on. This definitely was not the Matrix. Something that disturbed him more than his lack of knowledge on his location was the children. The red haired one in particular. He knew who it was but he would not admit it to himself.

He continued to run, and eventually ended up in front of a dojo. He knew this was where he was being drawn to and what the voice meant by battleground. He walked in, cautiously, not knowing what horror would await him this time.

In the middle of the dojo, stood a man. Unsurprisingly, he resembled Oranos in most ways. However his hair was silver and his face was decorated with a red and black cross. He looked very serious. His hands were held behind his back. “Greetings.” He said.

“What is this place?” asked Oranos. He was glad that this man was not being hostile…yet.

“In time. You must earn the answer. For now I will allow you an answer to a question you are thinking. I am Nasoro.”

“And how did you know I was thinking that?” asked Oranos.

“If you cannot even work that out then you will not succeed. Now, it is time for us to fight.” Nasoro put his fists up into a fighting stance.

“I was afraid you would say that.” said Oranos.

Nasoro ran towards Oranos getting throwing a punch. Oranos blocked it. The fight began.
