While we think of the Matrix now as a crossroads for religion... We all think of Christianity for the Christ figure of Neo, or Hinduism for the many tales of Vishnu and such, or Buddhism for, well, a great many things.

But the one religion we seriously don't think about having a connection with the Matrix is Islam. Why is this? I like to think because there's just a total ignorance in our Westernized culture to the people who created our alphabet and mathematic procedures. I'm talking about this Islamic culture, also thought as the Arabic culture.

Mohammad was a Prophet (Always thought to be a blind man in many stories and myths that tells the people the word of God or of the Gods). I'm no expert, but I do know that he was the founder of Islam. Islam is the word for submit, or conform... In regards to the religion, people of the Islamic faith submit to a unique and personal god, Allah--the only, the one, the supreme being.

But I'm looking at how Mohammad is Neo. Or how Neo is the symbol in the Matrix for Mohammad the Prophet, respectfully.

First, there is the story (Once again, I am not a scholar on this) about how Mohammad entered a cave during a time of uncertainty and came out with insight. Neo first used his strange new powers in the Real World to disable the Sentinels in the tunnels, or the cave, at the end of Reloaded.

Taking the title of 'Prophet' more literally, or maybe philosophically, we can say Neo was a Prophet just like Mohammad was. Neo was blind and ready to carry out the request of Deus Ex Machina in order to establish peace... But looking at it differently, Neo was sending out a message that formed a connection between God and Man. Deus Ex Machina being a literary term for 'divine intervention' by God or the gods or a cop-out ending (literally)... Also being looked on as the single entity that controls all Machines in 01.

Neo sends out the message at the end of the first movie sounding like a revolutionary or a teenager with dreams of anarchy. But this is the height of his Prophecy, I think, and we are still on the way to achieving it.

Neo submitted to Smith. He conformed to his role as the One at last. And through that final connection the Source flooded throughout and purged the Matrix.

But that's not the main focus. Let's go back to how Neo's actions are remembered today... E Pluribus Neo. A group buried mountain high in both criticism and contradiction. E Pluribus Neo who could state that Neo 'founded' their purpose.

Sounds to me like how we view our Middle-eastern brothers today. Actually, many of us have viewed them as such since before the Crusades. Terrorists, fanatics...

But anyways. What do you all think? Pyraci and I were discussing about this quite bit in MSN. I really like to see it this way; I mean, no one would think of it initially just because of our ignorance.
