think about it maybe for a contruct sure but for rp purposes imo the movies were based on a futuristic earth where people were enslaved and where people could mechanially enter a computerized universe to try and get back the real world to the way it is.... Well, the futuristic part is limited to the Real, and is partially captured in the 10/01 constructs. In the Matrix itself, I fail to see anything futuristic. It's unreal, it's "noir" and and it's "cool" and stylish, but hardly futuristic. (Well, maybe a little bit... depends on how you perceive "futuristic"). That was one of the things that made already the first movie special, this contrast between two entirely different styles and looks. "Reloaded" extended this style with a portion of medieval/Fantasy elements, that still fit into the "computerized universe" concept, but creates a great contrast to the customary SF and Cyberpunk atmosphere -- which I think is a great thing because it mixes and contrasts different, converse styles.
i mean Neo and Morpheos and Niobe were all ICONS of the picture not random redpills that just happen to be there thats why they got a privilage to use a sword or a special recognizable item YOU and everyone else in game is just some ordinary repill working for their org no one has uber neo powers no one is a person who trained neo and no one is will smiths wife..... Sorry if I don't accept this point. First of all, there weren't so many redpills operating inside the Matrix at all back then, but that's off-topic... The One's abilities were unique to him alone, but things like sword usage is something you can possibly program into every redpill's head. After all, we still can hyper-jump, it's not something attached to the uber Morpheus or Trinity. We are ordinary redpills, yet we can use Martial Arts... sorry, that argument doesn't deliver for me.
NOW when you say about lupines blood drinkers and all that the only time we see those are in CONSTRUCTS OR MISSIONS ok contrcuts is one thing sure MAYBE we could add a sword in a constrct..for the vampire constructs like widows more ok thats that but for PVP purposes for me no i dont think that swords would be a good idea if you want to get all serious about it for a real life scenario? ok
That's a fair point. Above, I said the medieval Fantasy elements extended the Matrix style. Of course, it's more complex than that: just like malfunctioning programs and Exiles, these elements are foreign and out of place in the Matrix. That's why the mentioned contrast makes sense, because the Chateau is not the Matrix and vampires/lupines don't run around the city. When you enter the Chateau in EtM, it's like a different world. The archives are so different from the city because they are remains of older Matrix instances. Although, of course, there are still Disciples in Manssen Park, and the missions still take place in the city.
However, I haven't actually even thought about that before. Just making swords an ordinary fighting style would take away the feel of foreignness from them. Limiting them to only constructs would be, again, a bit too little. Since it's not gonna happen anyway, I'll let from suggesting different possibilities and compromisses here.
someone has a sword...someone has a sub machine gun...there no super uber anime...block all the bullets with the sword no..you will die now for the matrix
someone has a sword...someone has a sub machine gun...sword weilder takes two steps..and get lead drained in his face..guess the sword didnt work too well...
Lolz, the same happens to the Martial Artists right now when they fight against armed opponents. Following your point, MAs couldn't stand a second against Gunmen. In real life, your chances to win a fight with a melee weapon is even higher than unarmed.
what i can see for melee weapons in game is...nothing really i dont see anything really working that wont ruin the feel imo...no disrespect im not putting down anyones opinon
