meaning that you can only get these items at this time of year, not meaning they will be taken away after the holiday is over.

I didn't see why they needed to be taken out in the first place.

Are they tempory or like last years winter shirts can we keep them once we've farmed them? I'll be alot happier if it is the latter

As far as I'm aware they were changed mainly due to the Ninjas using the Gi models which required pants and Rarebit not wanting to use up another model slot decided not to make a Ninja only Gi model. However, It seems he recently thought that using that model slot by using the old Gi model for these limited items was a good idea, and for the most part, judging by the reaction, it was as a lot of people were upset to see them go. So not it's not a brand new model, but it's more content regardless. Of course thats all down to my limited understanding of the database and models etc...

Oh and he said the old Gi's were skanky.

I have no idea why you thought last years Winter shirts were only temporary, I still have my red shirt and use it whenever I want so basically...

yeah, what they said above.

I'd also like to helpfully remind people that these are not just the same ol' gis we had before. When Rarebit added the pants he also remapped the model with a much more detailed texture graphic. So these are the old gis with the newly updated, better looking surface image <3

YAY RAREBIT!!!! HE LISTENED TO US!!!!!! SMILEY

I knew there was that possibility, but because it wasn't made clear wasn't totally sure if they are just availible during the chrimbo period or not.

What? All that means is the only time you can get these items is during this event; which can then be worn whenever through-out the year.

So in essence, Rarebit does not like the look of pantless Gi's due to leg exposure. Rarebit then removed said Gi's and replaced them with same gi's + pants. Some raged some dealt with the new change, yet Rarebit goes with the change despite how the people who raged expressed their opinion. Now Rarebit slaps the tag of, "brand spanking new" to something that we've had since day 1 that was only removed from the game not but several months ago simply because, "Rarebit felt like it." and it was probably more convenient for Rarebit to do since the content was already there instead of actually having to make something new before his winter break.

Oh, he listened to us, oh so indeedly.

I also wanted to add that I've always wondered why Rarebit shys away from changing the stats on certain items while stating that said items are overpowered in his eyes as in the eyes of many others because of the reason that the community might react badly, thus causing more trouble than it's worth. Of course, he's all for completely replacing a clothing model in the game without regarding how the community might have acted.

Funny how we have people who disparage and mock beta veterans who are unhappy with massive, systemic changes like an arbitrary org requirement of 50 to access content that they had worked to gain access to over multiple years and then had arbitrarily taken away from them for no reason (calling them lazy freeloading noobs); and then turning around and complaining over something minor like a piece of clothing.

 indeed

I would assure you that the people who disparage and mock people that think being a veteran of beta actually makes your opinion more dignified, could care less about the Gi when it was or how it is.  It's just how suddenly getting the old gi through recycled content which seemed a little more like a lazy pass by Rarebit as something to say, "new content for winter holiday update" and suddenly that's a personal victory to those who complained and whined constantly during that whole "Gi" phase.

Well the IR said it was one of 6 new items... (possibly 3 Male, 3 female) don't you think Rare may be building up the excitement about some items rather then starting at the top.

I don't recall Rare saying it was new content and although it was out before and was changed, the fact that you can't find them anywhere else now, makes them unique.

These may not have been taxing to do or think of, but that doesn't mean that the other items will be the same.

The article doesn't say "new" for a reason.

Listening to players is tricky. It was players who first gave me the idea of putting pants on them, and I documented what I was doing in my usual places on the forum--in this case I think it was series of images in the Dev Screenshots thread in Image Retrieval. The outcry from a few people who didn't like the change only came a good deal later, once the change hit Live.

I still think that combat clothing that forces you to go pantsless isn't a great idea. That's why the items with actual combat buffs no longer do that. On the other hand, we have a tradition of giving out non-combat clothing over the holidays for fun, and bathrobes are just fine for that; since it turned out that some people liked the old style, it seemed worthwhile to bring it back in this more appropriate form. I think most people will also find the eight bathrobe color selections to be an improvement over the gi colors (thanks to extensive internet...research >_>). And don't worry; if women's bathrobes (not male--check that mockup image's filename...) aren't your thing, there will still be plenty of other holiday items this year.

Most people don't read the forums like a bible so when you "document" things in your little section only a small percentage will notice it, hence why people only complained when it turned up in game. Thats the first time they had heard of it.

Rarebit, I think one of the main reasons for the outcry coming later was down to those people not frequenting your Dev screenshots thread. Of course thats really down to them...

It kinda reminds me of HitchHikers guide and the bypass plans available at the local planning office or something...

Wha? You mean you forum regulars don't go telling all your fellow operatives the strange and outrageous things you see on the forum? ;)

I didn't think it was required. Everyone has access to the thread, people simply make a concious choice to visit or not.
