I hope that all the bars you can swing on and doors you can get through aren't red as in the current trend in the video, granted it's an early preview. What would draw me into the game is the freedom of going where you wanted and finding out for yourself which doors can be opened and bars that can be used.

I wonder what an online version would be like with a massive city and thousands of free runners...

Either that or an option to turn it off.

I suspect that there would be a lot of falling if it wasn't there though.

Yeah, painting important objects in primary colours is 'Runner Vision', and can be turned off. SMILEY

For those who haven't been following this (why not, blast it?), here's some more footage from the game:

And check out these galleries for some concept art, including charts describing the movement system (which remind me so much of Flashback):

To be honest, I'm not really interested in this game at all. Haven't been a fan of DICE since Battlefield 2, patch 1.2. And, I straight up just don't like EA.

Flashback?

Such a great game... WAY before its time if you ask me... I wonder if I could find a codec for it and play it again.

I've never played a DICE game before, so I'm more than willing to give them a shot. I can't fault you on the EA thing, of course, but they only really come into it at the end with packaging and distribution. So yeah, we're probably gonna get some shoddy DRM on it, but the game itself will still be awesome. Like Mass Effect.

You should. SMILEY It came out about the same time as the original Prince of Persia, and was animated in a very similar style. It's a shame no one thought of updating Flashback when they updated Prince of Persia.

As far as EA only coming into the picture towards the end of things to publish, that's only partially true. EA is known for rushing studios into putting out the games. They also commission FAR below average games, so their involvement extends quite a bit beyond simply publishing. But, in this case, they are 100% responsible for this game, as EA owns DICE. EA games don't deserve a chance. Not unless they're made by Pandemic or Bioware, and even then, I'd have to see the game in action.

Then I would say you should see this game in action - there's enough footage around now. But you've already said you like neither EA nor DICE, so... Ah well, all I can say is I reckon you're missing out. SMILEY

I dont like EA either, but not all thier games are bad and I wont let my dislike for  developer/publisher stop me from playing a game that looks like it could be fun. Case in point, Battlefield: Bad Company is great IMO developed by dice and published by EA.

Right. At that point, it just boils down to personal opinion, I guess. I don't find 9 out of 10 EA games fun. To me, Mirror's Edge just doesn't look or sound fun.

Release dates announced:
http://kotaku.com/5051630/heres-whe...dge-will-be-out

November the 11th (US)/14th (EU) for PS3 and 360

'Later in the winter' for PC. SMILEY

I am not amused. There was a rumour going around prior to this announcement suggesting the PC version would be released in January, so that's probably it. Thankfully I'll have the PC version of GTA IV to tide me over.
