I understand, that complaint was more of an off-the-cuff rant, and that discussion is probably better suited for another more philosophical thread.  My apologies if it has distracted anyone from the real problem with Update 38.

Alright then let's talk about your other complaint that IS about u38.  The Bathory Boys are lower level than Crowbars.  Wrong, Bathory Boys are level 25-30.  Crowbars - 25-30.  Since Stamos and Bathory are right next to each other, this doesn't "throw that concept out the window".

So has anyone figured out how to send emails across servers?

Isn't it "Vector-Hostile.<Name>" (or maybe Vector.Hostile)

You can send an email to any server, all you need is that users' ingame
Name. Since all the names are unique, there will never be two
"QforQ"s.  So just send an email to QforQ and I would receive it.
No need to specify which server.

But, there is no way to send items or info acrossed servers. Emailing items is limited to the server your on.

Who cares, stop trying to change the subject.  Sigh.  I guess I have to restate the problem since you've derailed the thread somewhat by going over minutia that's not relevant.

And for the record I have no problem with the stability loss of collector / unique items from The Slums and The Barrens.  I have no problem with re-camping or recollecting for said items.  Sure it's an annoyance, but whatever.  The devs wanted to phase them out and this is how they chose to go about it.  *shrug*

But there are two problems that must be fixed:

1)  Non Slums/Barrens unique / collector items breaking down at an insane rate.

2)  The boss drop rules prevent 50's from ever getting the rarer unique items again.  Think about it.  Say bye bye to Watchers Shades, Fighters Gloves, Dragonskin Wrap, Direwolf Coat, etc.  If you don't believe me, check out Apoth's informative post on the subject:

Fix these two problems and we're good to go.  Simple as that.

What non-Richland/Westview loot is decaying fast? None of my clothing is decaying at a faster rate.

Many players are reporting insane stability rate loss on non-Richland/Westview unique items.  You regular buffed items are not experiencing this problem, fortunately, so your all set there.  However, I'm personally storing all my unique items in inventory till they fix the problem.  Yet when I briefly wore Peck's Shirt tonight, which you get downtown, I lost 2 stability points, and I think my Needler lost one as well when I shot up a few npcs.

I didn't change the subject.  It was about Update 38, and the Slums and Barrens progression is update 38 am I correct.  You complained that the Bathory Boys are lower than the Crowbars.  I was simply correcting you.  Bathory Boys and Crowbars are the same level, which is fine since Stamos and Bathory are right next to each other and they are both (with Manssen Park) the northern most neighborhoods.  This part of U38 is fine.

And the thread remains underailed by me.

And for the record I have no problem with the stability loss of collector / unique items from The Slums and The Barrens.  I have no problem with re-camping or recollecting for said items.  Sure it's an annoyance, but whatever.  The devs wanted to phase them out and this is how they chose to go about it.  *shrug*

I wasn't talking about that now.  Before yes.  But I took it back to subject with my last post.  I was talking about the Slums and Barrens level progression not about stability loss (which for the record you brought up, pal).

But there are two problems that must be fixed:

1)  Non Slums/Barrens unique / collector items breaking down at an insane rate.

I can't say as I've witnessed this even on the rare items.  Susannah's fighter gloves, black widow dress, and Surefoots (which she'd rather wear than the Solids because of the look) are fine.

And rightfully so when you think about it.  For you to whine about this you would also have to complain about not being able to get into the lower level archives.  Or not being able to get experience points from killing grays.

In any case I do have a solution: get a friend.  If you really have your eyes set on obtaining those fighter gloves then bring a low level down their with you.  If you're a level 50 despoiler and you have a REALLY low level person with you that's the best.  Bring him down there with you and make him fight the boss that you have downgraded.  You get lots of experience points that way as well.  You may want to recall him/her there, but if not you'll have to fight through the levels for you low level buddy.  That's the sacrifice you'll have to make.

I mean come on.  You're whining about not being able to reap the benefits of a place intended for lower levels anyway!

Forgive me if this has been brought up in this thread already, but 13 pages of arguing is a bit much to sort through.

I am quite happy with Update 38, except for one thing:  Since the
update, I have been unable to complete any mission involving Hired
Thugs, i.e. the Pandora's Box Missions that begin with Clef's Business
Card and the GPS Tracker.  In both cases the game crashes about
three minutes into the mission without fail.  I see this as the
largest problem induced by Update 38, and would appreciate any feedback
anyone has on it.

The update is good. The reflow well done. I started a new character just to see what the experience was like and can say that it is much improved with the two new collectors in Uriah to give newbs a couple pieces of good clothing to start. The reflow simply makes sense. And giving newbs tactic buffed clothes to start is a great way to introduce them to the existence and importance of tactics.

Almost all the loot from both the collectors and hideout bosses in Richland and Westview has been upgraded. I’ve lost lots of items to the accelerated decay but have had no incident of accelerated decay on any items that came from outside these two districts. That includes my Sakura Ninja Bandana, Direwolf Coat, Troll’s Hide, Dragonskin Wrap, Lancetr, Bedlam, Clamor and anything else I can’t think of off the top of my head.

Considering that the new loot is better and that most peeps who have been playing for a long time got rare drops during the great era of the respawn bug, I can’t sympathize with complaints about the decay. If the decay weren’t there, peeps would still be going after the new loot because it is better. Indeed, the decay makes perfect sense too as it phases out old lesser items (which has been done before BTW) and, without the respawn bug in the hideouts, makes ‘rare’ items more realistically rare. It also gives one more thing to do as a level 50 (which of course is the other thing so often complained about, nothing to do at level 50…blah blah blah)

As far as being level 50 and not being able to get rare drops from the lower hideout bosses…blah blah blah. I can go farm with a low level or raise info to buy the rare items from those who take the time to farm. Good for the economy and gives value to being a low level player or starting alternate characters. In many cases, the new standard drop is better than the old rare drop anyway…so the old rapidly decaying item can be easily replaced with a better one that doesn’t require a rare drop. Knowing that, why would I want to hold on to old weak stuff when new better stuff is easy to get? That’s not the case with every item but since it applies to the majority, I see no problem with the accelerated decay unless it’s affecting items not on the list (which I have not experienced).

Email is a welcome upgrade too though there have been some problems smoothing that out so I am waiting before using it heavily to move items. As far as the email format, the biggest issue is only being able to send one item at a time. That’s too inefficient as it’s still faster to transfer multiple goods using a third party.

So all in all, it’s a well thought out change that I’m happy to see. New mob boss locations and new and improved loot means new things to explore and get.

YAY! Something new and worthwhile to do.

The crashes are bad though. I’m running as good of a system as anyone and I’m getting CTD’s in missions all the time where they never happened before. Stability is a huge concern as it violates the immersion in the rudest way and often destroys a lot of good work so far accomplished.

You people are intent upon sucking up to SOE for some reason, why I have no idea.  My 2 complaints are valid and true.  It's as easy fix, why are you fighting it?  And no, I'm not going to level an alt solely just to camp stuff then email them to my main character who had them in the first place.  You may enjoy jumping through tedious hoops for no reason, but I think a lot of people don't consider that process fun when an easy bug fix will correct the problem.  And I dare say you'll be the first ones complaining when your dragonskin wrap or direwolf coat starts to go and you have no way to get it back other than to powergrind an alt for that purpose.

Take the SOE related comments to SOE Discussion or Off Topic. People,
stop polluting this update discussion with mind numbing buffoonry.

The designers and developers have executed their rights here, and I applaud everything that they have done.

Please bear in mind that the designers and developers are not on the
SOE board of directors, they don't drove Aston Martin DB9's (am I wrong
team?) and they care about their work. The reflow is absolute bliss.
I've tried it with a third character on Recursion and it's great.

Item decay is welcome and will make all of us --yes myself included--
wake up and start doing things. If you can't get to the hideout
construct anymore, then (as has been mentioned in this thread) buy the goods off
a lower level, or actually start a fresh character and get a nice
healthy stock of x5 of each item to give to your primary char.

This is going to happen in International and Downtown; that is a fact
of life and is inevitable. It's about time the designers and developers
starting injecting a little force into this game. They're now telling
us (without speaking, as such) that the game is going in X direction,
with Y changes and Z content. We haven't had much direction until
recently so I embrace this.

Update 38 (lovingly holding 37.5 to it's busom) is a joy to behold.
Huzza for Update 39, it's older, more mature brother! And huzzah for
the hotfix children!

Rsync.

P.S Huzzah for Combat 2.0, and baby walrus folk!!!

Can I have you Widow's Moor lenses, then, since you're so dammed happy to be rid of them and other unique items?  I might get a little mileage out of them before they decay.

The widow's moor lenses are not part of this discussion. If you actually took the time to read the announcements, you would know this. Only the collector items and hideout drops in Richland and Westview were given accelerated decay.

If you think it's a bug then /ccr it.

This thread is about update 38, not your widow's moor lenses. Thanks in advance for not reading or understanding this and continuing to make off topic posts...

....then why are people reporting accelerated decay rates on non-Slums/Westview unique items?  Read the whole thread and it's sister on Vector before you claim this topic is irrelevant.

I was a beta tester since November 2004 and I saw it as my job to report bugs.  Since this is an apparent bug I feel obligated to bring it to the dev's attention.  Yes I have /ccr'd and I encourage others to do the same.
