This is just a quick thought.

T.A.'s boss at Metacortex said to him in the first movie:

"You have a problem with authority, Mr Anderson.  You believe you are special.  That, somehow, the rules do not apply to you.  Obviously, you are mistaken."

Do you take what Anderson's boss said literally?  If so, what are your thoughts about it?  The line in partlicular I'm referring to is, "Obviously you are mistaken."  Could that have been forshadowing by the Watchowskis that Neo was nothing special, just a system of control?

so...I kept watching the movie, for the 200th time, and Morpheus asks Tank during Neo's training, "How is he doing?"  Tank says, "Ten hours straight.  He's a machine."

Can this  be taken literally?

I've never seen this discussed.  If it has, please point me to the thread.

What Rineheart says is simply a reference to the fact that Neo is not supposed to be turning up late for work etc. Though it is probably a device the Wachowski's used to show Neo as part of the system.

The reference to Neo being a machine is as far as I can see referring to his ability to take large amounts of data into his brain nonstop- something only a machine is supposed to do.

Undoubtedly, the Wachowski's really had this in mind when they wrote Mr. Rhinehearts monologue. Would be weird if not. But the actual meaning really applies to Mr. Anderson as a Metacortex worker and not as the One.

Although it does add a further note to the idea that was pressed upon Neo by the oracle that he is not the one. rather than being told what/who he is he made that choicer himself by saving Morpheus and fighting Smith in the subway, and in that same way I'm sure all the other potentials made that choice most likely subconsciencely  that they were in fact not the one.

well if you remember in the movie when the oracle told neo he wasn't the one she said something along the lines maybe in another life he would be...he does die at the end of the movie and come back as the one

What his boss said to him was one of those things that fans will go back and pick out, as we all have. If you were sharp enough to pick it up the first time you watched it, then it was foreshadowing.

As for Tank saying he is a machine, that can be either irony or dialogue that persuades the viewer to see what was further emphasised in the sequels. The Bros said that between Reloaded and Revolutions, that Neo became more machine (seeinghis lack of humor and extra stiff sholdours) and that Smith became more human as a result of their first and second battles. Smith began to feel emotions of disgust and hatred.Actually, their roles were set in motion well before their first battle, as we know now, with the prophecy and Smith knowing how things are "going exactly as last time. Well, not exactly ..."

Mr Rhineheart's speech was brilliant scripting.

It's effectively a synopsis of who and what Neo is, or will turn out to be in the film. They're telling you exactly what the film is going to be about, without telling you.
It's fun to rewatch that scene and listen to what he says SMILEY

As for Tank's comment, I think it's just a tongue-in-cheek line, or perhaps a poor choice of phrase on Tank's part. There's nothing concrete to say that Neo was a machine (as a lot of theories doing the rounds before the 2nd two films alluded to), so I don't think we can read too much into it.

The average free born is much more intelligent than most blue pills. Tank is correct.

How do we know this?

The average person born in Zion may be more aware than most bluepills, but I doubt they're any more intelligent.

Each time we wiped out zion it was started again by an exceptionally specific & chosen group. Idiots also make for long-term batteries, we like to keep those.
