Hacks

Did they ever explain why we can use hacks in the game when there werent any in the movies. I dont ever remember seeing trinity throwing a bottle neck out there or a logic cannon 2.0 on someones dome.

I would say they were more like events like Agent Smith taking Neo's mouth away in the very beginning.

My guess is that they didn't have enough info to level up their Hacker trees and therefore it was too weak and pointless to use virals :smileyvery-happy:

The Hacker abilities (and Coder abilities too ... everyone seems to separate them from the Hacker abilities even though the Coder disciplines didn't appear in the trilogy either, and many have the same effects as the Hacker abilities) are a post-Revolutions development, like the hoverbarges and the auto jackout system.

According to William Westwaster: "As we saw in the movies, operators in the hovercraft can download programs directly into the Matrix. After the Smith incident (in The Matrix Revolutions), Zion developed more direct transmitters that allow operatives to access the hovercraft remotely. This led to experiments in more directed attacks on the simulation itself--viruses that target the stability and coherence of the Residual Self-Image (RSI), the manifestation of self and other within the system.

In other words, hackers do have the ability to attack their opponents at a distance by targeting them with a virus."

The Hacker and Coder abilities combine two concepts we saw in the trilogy: the fact that signals can be transmitted in and out of the Matrix (meaning that there isn't an impenetrable barrier between the Matrix and the real), and the virtual interfaces that the people in the Zion Control construct used in Reloaded.
