Which org your apart of has no affect on your character gameplay or stat wise (apart from Machines getting a very very very VERY small chance of getting the Agent's standard issue handgun)
Its entirely up to your own persuasion, which org would you follow from what they are all fighting for. You may even just decide to join friends, the only difference is:
~You will interact with different Live Event characters~Different liasions~You will do different critical missions and ~Have a different Org area to explore.
EDIT: And you can still chat with liasions from different Orgs, do the Archived critical missions from opposing Orgs and get someone from another Org to let you into the other Org Areas.
You can always look at these, too. I found it very informative.

Thanks for the link Proximisio, that's the one I had been looking alittle at.I understand that the organization I join has little effect, just wanted to have something that makes sense RP wise for my character And feel I don't know as much as I should about the different organizations as I wish I did.So far I'm thinking Merovingians, but not sure yet. I'm not so concerned about the war that is going on between Zion and the Machines, guess my character is drawn to the power he can get in the Matrix - but also at the same time being kinda "good guy".
Hee, I'd say go Merv, since the RP tends to be the most flexible, since they're not involved with the war (well... not *directly*...) and since there's more room for diversity of character (I've seen more than a few Exile characters, ranging from the fascinating to the wierd). Zion's pretty much centered on protecting humanity and fighting the Machines; the Machines are centered on protecting the system and defending it, but the Mervs are more about finding your own niche in the world and having the assets to pull it off. Granted, you have to pay the small price of working with the Merv and protecting his domain, but that's really a small price to pay, in the long run.
There again, my main and three alts are all Merv, so I might be a leetle biased. :: Laughs::
My advice would be to ask people within the organizations about them rather then reading biased filled summeries. While yes each person you quiz will be slanted towards showing only the good points of their own org 9/10 times its aparent what they are exagerating and you will learn more than any summery can tell you.
Downsides of Merv RP? Please share ^^I was thinking that all (human) characters need a place to stay when they are not jacked into the Matrix. How does that work for those who support the Machines or Merovingians? Do they just live in their ship, without being able to go to (New?) Zion? Or isn't life outside the Matrix generally considered?
Okay, bad news first: The downside of Merv RP is that the Merv organization is currently the smallest of the three main ones; seems a lot of players choose to stay with Zion, the default org. Also, while there's been a lot of fascinating players who created Exile characters, there's also been a lot of wack-jobs who take it too far. Case in point when the Merv org on Recursion got overrun with bad, over-sexed vampire RPers who seemed to have watched "Underworld" a few times too many. This doesn't mean that playing a vampire is wrong, it's just something that's been done to death when there's room for a variety of Exiles of all kinds of stripes, not just the wierd ones from the Second Matrix. Lastly, since the Merv organization is pretty much all about power, it seems to attract a lot of megalomaniac crazies who frown on anyone who isn't an ego-tripper like them. There's also a misconception that all Merv females are ready and willing for a horizontal tango any time, anywhere: My main is female and I can't tell you how many times I've had some random guy -- or gal -- come up to me at a hardline and spam me with ./weddingkiss. The best was the girl who kept spamming me with ./kiss'es and then said, "turn me in 2 a vampire, plz!"
The good news: I've seen a lot of Mach and Merv players mention an outpost or two they've set up in the Real. From what I can tell, it seems a lot of Machs spend their time outside the Matrix in a sort of annex to the Machine City, but the Mervs have had to be a bit more creative. Syntax Mervs have the city of Abbadon, while the Recursion Mervs have Outpost Styx, but I know a lot of Merv players (myself included) who've set their claim on some small corner of the Real.
Personally I'm not looking to RP an exile. I'm just another redpill Started my Merovingan missions now, so seems to be going in that direction.Playing in Recursion as TrickForge.
Good. Most who RP exiles fail horribly and, in my experience, there is a real lack of good ol' fashion redpills in the Merv's organization.
You also get bonus points if you play a character who doesn't suffer from a mental disorder and serves the Merv for a legitimate reason, such as money or power.
