Duelist is only good for dueling (duh)
Work off defenses.
Figure it out from there.
To expand on that, Duelist is the "defense" oriented tree in the guns tree. So basically, now that defense has finally been fixed in CR2.0 or should I say CR2.5, you're going to want to have a high defense orientation with whoever you're going to be fighting. Of course, you can't be powerful against everything, and really trying to boost defense in everything besides maybe the Troll's Hide + Quicksilver's, you're going to screw yourself over. What RemagDiv about dueling isn't really just sarcasm either. You can get quite a high defense rating if you're only fighting one person and you know their load just by changing clothes to counter them. Try to have all 4 hypers loaded in a PvP situation so you can switch quickly inbetween what you're fighting. Resistance is always nice, but remeber in this game you're supposed to lose in a 2v1, so don't get discouraged.
As for some clothing choices, I'd go with the following.
Quicksilver Gloves are a must. %6+ to all defenses and I think 22 resistance in everything. It's probably one of the best clothing items in the game except for something like an Assassin's mask, and it even looks hella cool too.
Troll's Hide is basically the shirt version of Quicksilvers. Instead of %6+ it's %3+ and the resistances should be the same now that it got a better upgrade.
For fighting against Guns-
If you're a duelist, you're going to want an Area K. +3% Defense from ballistic and max resistance with some health regen, not a bad coat. Not that good for a pvp situation due to a lack of a third resistance, but if you're having a bad time with snipers, go ahead.
Although it isn't the greatest in resistance, Squad Leader's gives you a decent defense and accuracy bonus as well as some ballistic resistance.
Coward's pants is pretty much the same class as the Squad Leader's, for Guns fighting other Guns.
Seraphim's are also another must, gotten from the PB4. Godly stats for a pair of shoes, and well worth getting. If you want to chase someone down, you need these, unless you know that running diagonally drastically increases your running speed. ~_~
You might want IS gear for your head, but that's just me.
For fighting against MA-
The nemesis archetypes means you have a basic advantage over any pure-load Martial artists. Your MA defense should be oodlesly high against them, so you'll be in luck. Once again, defense clothing.. probably gear against MA, but since you have the nemesis advantage, you may not need to worry so much. Depends on who're you fighting and what they know.
For Fighting against Thrown-
Here's a tip of advice, don't. MKT is not only in my mind an overpowered class, but Thrown is geared against kicking the *poop* out of guns. You might have a bunch of defense, but MKT destroys you with its accuracy. Unless you're fighting someone mentally *CENSORED*, the MKT will win 80% of the time. MKT might have an easier time beating other classes, but the nemesis archetype means you're going to get screwed regardless because Thrown > Ballistics.
For Fighting Hackers-
This is pretty much an even fight. Once again, defense clothing, try to avoid getting debuffed to hell.
All in all, the nemesis system works like this.
MKT>Ballistics>MA>Hacker>MKT
Or at least that's how it's supposed to be...
