How the heck is body shot suppose to work

so Im a lower lvl soldier going gunman and the first close combat gun skill i have is body shot. Ive tried to use it and it slides over into the actions panel were attacks go in combat mode but instead it just does what ever move is in the next cue. Is this how its suppose to work or am i doing something wrong or is it just bugged?

Grrrrr, this is frustrating.

I think that happens with all special moves when they have been blocked by your opponent and instead of showing a block animation it goes straight to the next move, which I think is good really because it skips the same old block animation we've seen so many times. You need to increase your combat skill so it is more likely to work.
