I finally bought MxO, installed it today and waiting through the 2 GB update. Every time I try to create a character in any of the three servers, the game won't proceed. I can go as far as designing the RSI, but I can't get past the screen that asks me to name the character. I click "Accept" the the button goes gray, but the game won't proceed beyond that. I waited 20 minutes before trying to click the "Quit" button, but even that was unresponsive.

I thought that may be the issue, so I've tried a couple different names since. I'd hope the game would TELL me if I chose a name that was already in use.

I tried all three servers this morning, still no luck. I tried creating a character on Vector-Hostile, waited 20 minutes, then gave up. It would really suck to have waited so long to buy a game that won't even let me make my RSI! SMILEY

I advise retrying the procedues but doing it as quick as possible and check for error messages about the names section. It might say its already taken, or reserved. Which means you cant process to you edit the name.

if you still get stuck shout us

Thanks for your help, Havocide. I now have a character, but can't log in. Probably a hardware issue. Here's my DXDIAG for anyone who could tell me why. I know the only thing I am missing is a Vertex Shader:

Hi, I don't know if you were ever able to fix your problem about not getting past character creation, but I had the same problem recently, then I re-installed (I don't even think this is necessary, but doesn't hurt to try) anyway afterwards I did a full system check again, even after downloading the 2 gb patch and it seems there was one patch that didn't get downloaded into my launcher, it took about 10 seconds and I was then able to create characters, I hope this helps you SMILEY

Hello kronuss,

No promises on a laptop but you may want to try updating your video card drivers, if Dell does not have anything newer I suggest going to www.guru3d.com

Regardless of what you do you may not get your system to run MXO.

Like TSRBradG said you REALLY need to update your video drivers as they are from 2005. Due to the graphics chipset you have you will have to get your drivers from Dell as Intel do not provide support for the chipset. It is the responsibility of the system manufacturer to provide drivers.

Of course you have an Intel on-board graphics solution that has limited 3D capabilities at best. There is a very good chance that your laptop is miles too short on specs to run MxO.

I have a laptop with the same GFX card and I just tested it and MxO ran ... but so slowly that it timed out trying to load the Loading Area (the first thing that loads when you log in to a server).

Sorry but The Matrix Online has SERIOUS hardware requirements to run well and you most likely need a better computer.
