I just hope there's a reason to it, storyline-wise. Perhaps this is a failed section of the Matrix? Or maybe an 'under-construction' form of the next version of the Matrix.

That is the part that excited me most too, if the devs are confident on releasing new areas, there is no reason we cant get more new areas in the future.
There as to also be a folder somewhere with other unused/removed at last minute models of buildings and stuff which means it would be just reorginised versions of Richland or Westview.

It's not what we've seen so far as they've just been teasers its the anticipation of what we will be presented with when it's complete and passes QA. The broken bridge, pipes and barge on their own aren't getting me excited... it's the whole thing and future possibilities that I'm excited about.
