I'm doing these from memory, so please correct me if I'm wrong on any of them.

Anti-Aliasing - without getting too complicated, this basically 'smoothes' out all the jagged edges on everything. For example, on on the guy in the background in your picture, you can see that his hair has a jagged line around the edge. There's a similar line between your character's shirt and their arm. Turning anti-aliasing on will smooth that out, though it might reduce your frame rates.

Disable V-Sync - disables 'vertical sync', which means that the game may refresh at a different rate than your screen. Turning this off provides increased performance, but may produce 'tearing' in the middle of the screen due to the different refresh rates.

Scale LOD with Frame Rate - Scales the level of detail with the frame rate, meaning that if you're getting a low frame rate, theoretically the game will lower the draw distances of objects in order to maximize the framerate. I've never actually seen this setting do anything, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't work as designed.

Load Sector LODs - I have no idea about this one, but I'm guessing that it has something to do with how much of the game's textures are physically loaded at the time that you jack into the Matrix. It seems to me that with it turned off, there's more lag transitioning between districts, but less lag at initial loading time. That might just be the time of day in which I decided to test it, though.

You pretty much want to have this one enabled at all times--unless you're trying to capture a screenshot of a large crowd of people all at maximum character model detail, and don't care about having a really low framerate.

Sector LODs are the untextured rough outlines of distant buildings you see in the...distance.

So would it be beneficial for someone with an old rig (*cough*  this guy) to leave that unchecked?  I assume that having that enabled loads the Sector LOD's on jackin as opposed to when it's needed, right?

In theory. I don't think that setting has as much of an impact on performance as some of the other ones; I haven't been able to see much of a difference with it on the machines I use for MXO.

Another thing you'd want to leave this on for is for movie making.

It would be better to lower some detail levels at the outset to give you a smooth framerate rather than have things start potentially losing detail or loading different textures in the middle of a shot.

well o.O i just got a new comp 3 weeks ago and so far i can dual client mxo and have them both on the highest settings and run warhammer online/msn/aim/firefox  at the same time so pffft old rig my as.s :p

Correct me if I'm wrong Rare... but aren't the LOD's affected by the "scale LOD with frame rate" mostly to do with world doodads (trees, junk on the ground, etc...) and character polycounts? eg on low detail distant people (players, NPC's and pedestrians) stop animating. You may have seen the effect when someone in the background is moving around but they appear frozen and usually leaning at a funny angle.
