Other members of our faction are invited to add their touch to this description.

Name of your faction: Insurgence

Original Leaders: Khanstruct

When it was formed: Beta

Why the faction name was chosen:

Our faction stood for freedom of information and individual rights, tolerance of differing viewpoints and confidence in the marketplace of ideas, democracy regardless of class or reputation, and the right to self-organize into what was known as the human republic of Zion.

Through the looking glass, however, the machines might have used our faction name to describe these virtues and as a label for the disruptive, foreign Redpill movement.

Additionally, the name also had an electromagnetic quality about it (i.e. surge, inductance).

Why the faction was in the organization (merv, machine, etc) it was:

Started at a time when most factions were Zion, our group tried to distinguish itself by staying on the cutting edge of information and the cross-server coordination of factions and organizations.  We attended and orchestrated countless meetings on all servers and you'll find screenshots of our members' live-event participation in almost every thread of the ‘Live Events' section of DN1.

We organized the first multi-faction Zion voice-server in the first week of live which we announced at the first multi-faction meeting on our server.  We were instrumental in the first cross-server EPN voice-server and organized the EPN group on Xfire; we saved the EPN Relay, running the Relay for the longest uninterrupted time compared to any other incarnation.

Our group looked beyond the literal meaning of events, proper names, and historical or contemporary references, yet we were non-exclusive, accepting people on whatever level they were willing to view the matrix and confident that, given the resources, each member could decipher the different levels of meaning.

Amount of crews in its prime: Almost 40

Anything else you think might be interesting for us to know:

Our current members include Hydrazine, Sputnik, Paschendale, KevinXser, Gomerman, Keymaster, Tohryanse, Nehoe, Waromnimonki, Mars, and Athena.  We had several syntax EPN members active in our faction, such as Gerik.  Past key members include, Liph, Nihilist, Tstrike, Killian, Thrylla, JojoBiz, and Westup.

Nobody from my original faction plays, and have disappeared almost entirely. I'm one of the only survivors, so I'll try to recall as much as I can.

Name of your faction: The Rakshas, Rakshas Evolution, Deus Ex Raksha

Original Leaders: oh FUUUUU-- How could I forget this? I wasn't around when the original leader played much, so most of my time was spent under the leadership of The Constant.

When it was formed: In beta.

Why the faction name was chosen: You can wikipedia Raksha for a much better interpretation than I could ever type up. But, basically, Raksha means Protection in Hindi. We were protectors of the machine.

Why the faction was in the organization (merv, machine, etc) it was: Machines. I wouldn't know what exactly was going through the mind of the creator, however it seemed like a good moral middleground among all three organizations at the time. Plus the Machines on Iterator were seen as the more mature group while all the kiddies at the time played "THE GOOD GUYS" at Zion, so that was probably a good swaying factor.

Amount of crews in its prime: Too many to handle, which is why we ended up reforming once or twice. We were one of the huge go-to factions on the entire server of Iterator.

Anything else you think might be interesting for us to know: The Rakshas were the first faction ever created on Iterator, according to a faction title managing .txt in the game's files. We were the faction with the most alliances, as we dealt with both Zion and Merv factions to a predetermined point. We always had specific factions we trusted the most no matter what though, such as The Kings of Never (post-xRagex leadership), Red Code Army (if I remember the name correctly) and the other biggest factions per org. Rakshas and Kings often shared faction and crew mates when servers merged, which was almost unheard during the age of secrecy in MxO. As long as the Rakshas and their major alliances were around, peace always reigned between the Machines and Zion.

Rakshas also came as close as possible to changing the plot line of the second chapter event with Lupines and Blood Drinkers. We protected a character that was supposed to die so well that they had to forcefully teleport him to another floor of the building to get killed. Agent Gray later met with us, asking why we protected the exile.

The Rakshas also held three out of four Assassin's Masks on Recursion, and originally won two out of the four in the Assassin event. One was Cap0ne, and the other was The Constant (who actually got the killing blow on both Assassins, with Cap0ne getting the second-to-last shot on one of them)
