I play SWG and EQ2. I attempted to use the same format to send a tell to someone who was playing EQ2 with no luck. I used
/tell{space}EQ2.servername.playername{space} message
I kept getting the message that they are not online or do not exist. I know they were because they were sitting next to me. Anyone have any info on this?
Thanks

As far as I know, it's because they haven't put the inter-SOE chat into the game yet.
One of the first patches SOE released for MxO had something in the
patch notes along the lines of "We're replacing AIM chat in-game with
SOE chat. Only we're taking out AIM *NOW*, and we'll put SOE chat in in
a couple of months or whenever we feel like doing it."
So I imagine you've got a little while to wait before you'll be able to talk to your EQ and SWG buddies.

I hope that is not the case. I guess I will have to wait and see. Thanks for the response though.

Hmm... just to follow up, I was messin' around in the chat
options
earlier and noticed they have a checkbox for "SOE Chat". So they *have*
at least put the GUI controls in there for it. Whether or not those
controls actually *do* anything yet is still anyone's guess though.

Yeah, the SOE chat system isn't implemented yet... As for the SOE chat option, I believe it's just converted from the AIM chat option.

OK, now the SOE chat is implemented, and adding SWG players to friends list has worked fine
for me, but I can't seem to do the same for anyone on PlanetSide. Am I getting
the game name wrong, or is it just not included in SOE chat?
I tried both PlanetSide.server.username and PS.server.username.

I got someone from EQ2 on my buddylist, and it showed them as logged
in. Unfortunately I didn't have time to talk to them to test it out.
Still can't get PlanetSide to work though.
I know for a fact that it works with EQ2 and SWG, if you can't
get it to work with those games, open your chat options, and make sure
you have "Block External Unknown IMs" turned OFF. Then it should work.

I'm almost positive that Planetside isn't on the the SOE chat platform.
