Ok so here's what happened. I'm doing Pandora's Box 3, the last mission, and I walk through a door and my game just.. locks up. I figure "Ah it's just some graphic lag it'll go away" but no, it didnt. So I clicked the little x (My game was windowed) and I try to log in again. I get this error:

I got that too Roukan, and what I had to do is do a system scan or whatever its called in the launcher, because aparently my game was running on an old patch, but my launcher was up to date.

This can happen for a few reasons. The first thing to try is running the full system check from the Launcher. the tricky thing is, you have to toggle it on twice. The first time you toggle it is at the EULA screen, BEFORE clicking on Accept. This will do a scan of the Launcher, and update it if necessary. This will cause an automatic restart of the launcher in most cases.

Once it relaunches, acept the EULA, but before entering your username and password, toggle the System Scan to ON again. Then, put in your naame and password and hit ENTER. A full system check will take place.

Another reason this will happen is a bad or out-of date client.dll file. You can try removing this file from the directory (I would simply move it someplace else temporarily) and then run the full system check as described above. This sometimes resolves the problem.

The last thing to check is your graphics driver. Make sure your card is supported by the game (you can look HERE) and that you have recent drivers for it (HERE).

i have this problem if the game client crashes, and and try to relaunch right after. It happens to me beacause display.dll is still running in task manager (ctrl+alt+del). And if u cancel that, and try again it works for me.

I can't accually remmember if it's display.dll, but it's something like that!

Here is a piece of advice that has helped me in many patcher problems:

If you finish playing MxO and It was working fine and quit with out problems, back up your matrix online directory (It's big so you will probably need another disk, It won't fit on CD).

Then if you ever have to re-install, once you are done copy you backup over the install and you won't have to patch anywhere as much.

If your client.dll messes up, back up your profile folder, then delete the contents of your MxO directory and replace it with your back up, then run the launched and patch up to date... then copy your profile folder back.

Sometimes things like viewing files in notepad can screw things up... in particular client.dll and any texture files. (I know... it's interesting to snoop around in the files, I'm not recommending it. But if you want to snoop, make a copy of the file to somewhere else then open the copy.)

This WILL ALWAYS fix any game client related issues. If it doesn't (and your backup wasn't corrupted) then the issue is with your computer or the game servers... or the patch is faulty.
