I liked the previous mission where we got to go around killing Zion operatives who's RSI signatures we had obtained, makes it feel like a real assassination rather than just deleting exiled programs or temporarily jacking out Zion operatives.  Hopefully it's one of those types.  It would only be an added bonus if we got to go after a more important story-line character...

What... the... hell...?

I killed the guard, but drew the line at completely disregarding an order. I want to know what on Earth that was all about.

In other news, Roland is sensible! That's what I like to see: logical, considered orders to the rest of Zion to stop being stupid.

Hmmm... obviously leaving that last operative alive was more beneficial than termination although I would like Gray to elaborate...

Yeah, but why did she have an Elite Guard posted with her? I thought they were reserved for Merv operations.

Here's the output from the first computer I managed to hack:

The second was just a message from one operative to another, warning them to get out.

(( And they made our operator look stupid! After the above message, he said he didn't know who Colt was. SMILEY SMILEY)

Hmmm.. I didn't notice the guard, but that is strange... Also it seems that the operator doesn't read all of the intelligence reports. Mind you Colt was pretty much a nobody until Lock disappeared, could your Op have been trying to crack a funny?

Well, he did say something along the lines of: 'He must be some new Zion nubcake.' SMILEY

For a task that first seemed very straight forward, it certainly ended up raising more questions than it answered.. While I've come to expect a lack of explanation from those in command, I am certainly hoping we get one this time.

Huh... that was weird. Oh well, I'm not going to say no to sparing a life.  Perhaps Roland finally decided to start talking.

Maybe the Zionite we didn't kill was a spy for us, or someone who actually works for the Merv.

You can kill her and still complete the mission if you'd prefer, Agent Gray simply says "You are not permitted to ignore orders, Mr/Ms. (Insert Last name)." Then upon completion he thanks you for being able to follow orders explicably.

Really? Blast. I didn't dare ignore the objective to 'Not kill [Person]', as I thought it would fail the mission. And as I haven't failed a mission in some time, I couldn't remember if it affected my reputation or not. I don't wanna lose my Maximum rating. SMILEY

I generally like to stick to the objectives whenever possible. I'd hate to be a burden on Gray especially after all the work I've done to prove that Humankind can be responsible.

((Limitations on the mission system I guess - about what Gray says after if you do terminate the operative. Also I don't think that your Rep drops if you fail a mission. You'd just have to do it over again, but then it's been a long time since I mucked up on a mission...))

Well, if I'd known I could have killed the final target without it affecting my reputation points, I'd've done it. Not only to finish the job properly, but to spite Gray. He annoys me with all this cloak and dagger nonsense. Tell us what's going on, for God's sake!

Hmm...very very interesting. Nicely done.

I like the set-up we're getting on these for Chapter 9, a lot of times the last missions are let-downs, not this one.

If you can or can't kill the last operative and still complete the mission that clues us in that it may not have been that important to keep the last operative alive, meaning they were expendable.  Or, maybe they didn't want to let on just how important the last operative really was, maybe their hiding something from us...

Hmm...either way it would be nice to see an explanation in an upcoming live event SMILEY
