OMG it's a HOMOPHOBE, and if meatspin site was allowed then Id certainly linky linky to that.

it's a game, it's a party nobody knows who you are unless somebody you know recognizes you off that avatar of yours SMILEY but it's a game and I intend to go nuts (btw I am getting married to a girl in 1/2 a year before anybody starts insinuating that I'm G-A-Y!)

and the filtering of that word is pretty annoying actually because now I have a line below this that completely ruins this post :'(

Thanks for verifying your sexulaity to us Packhunter, me and PBlade was a bit confused lol.

If Joakim and AltDimension are uneasy for the same reason as me, I'll explain:

I've got issues with anything like that. It's got nothing to do with people's sexual orientation, but rather the fact that they draw attention to it. The same goes for rallies and such about race, gender, country of origin, religion... whatever.

In simple terms, it's great that you're happy with who you are. There's nothing wrong with it, and society shouldn't be biased against 'classes' like this. But pointing out to everyone (in ostentatious ways like parades and rallies) that you're *CENSORED*, bi, transgender, black, white, male, female, or whatever isn't going to help the issues of intollerance (e.g. racism, and homophobia). If anything it'll make it worse.

My philosphy is simple: I don't care what you are, as long as you're a nice person. So yeah, it's great that you're proud of who you are, but I'm frankly not interested.

Don't worry, I know this event isn't serious. I didn't mean to throw a damper on it. It's just that the above is one reason why some people may disagree with you holding this event. I'd find it equally objectionable if you had a Straight Pride event. SMILEY

Now you go have fun. SMILEY

I regret to inform that I have lost my broadband and am currently stuck on dialup until at least feburary so I will not be able to attend the party but know that I will be there in spirit. I truly was looking forward to this but its just not going to happen for me.

I agree with the other things you said, but I disagree entirely with the above. Off the top of my head, the American Civil rights movement was emboldened, empowered and vitalised through the constant use of "parades and rallies", without which many of their major breakthroughs might not have been as impressive as they were. Just because you have a rally or a march, does NOT mean it is automatically somehow ostentatious.

You get over racism, homophobia and all those other "wonderful" things by pointing out each others differences and learning to understand and live with them, not by ignoring those differences and trying to pretend that we're somehow all the same, which is exactly what the "don't do this, because it'll likely encourage this" approach creates. Someone wants to point out to me that they're black? Awesome, have your rally, tell me what you think and then I'll go have a beer with you.

Same for *CENSORED* pride marches, events and parties. You'll always get ignorant people, but you shouldn't put a hold on your outreach, diversity, events  or inviting people from outside of your group / gender / race / whatever based on the fact that an idiot will turn up and ruin it for everyone else. Because if you do, the idiots have achieved what they set out to do and denied interaction between the two groups, which is exactly what they're trying to encourage in the first place.
