The lack of permanance immediately kills any chance it had of being an "OMG I need to have that now!" item, since for about the same grind, you can get a physical item which will not deactivate out of the blue and... honestly, how ridiculous would it look to have a sword on your back for two minutes, only to have it disappear? Meh.

I don't care that everyone would be running around with it - it's a fad, just like the Area K was. For the love of God, you can't tell me you didn't see everyone and their brother with a flippin' Area K the first month or so after that was released, but now it's disipated. The same would happen with a perpetual sword.

Dunno... I just really think it sounds absurd to have a sword on your back that vanishes at a given time.

This pretty much tells why we need more quests for items, have it be guns or clothing.

EDIT: Forgot to give my opinion. lol

This isn't something I'll waste time getting I think, just like the Red Eye.

I think I prefer it having a timer. If it didn't, I guarentee that everyone and their alts would be running around with swords. And that's uncool.

As it stands, this is still a unique and pwnful device, if used properly. Imagine the Furious Angel video pwnage... with the FAs all wielding swords. The screenshot ops, the video ops, et cetera, makes this a clever and very useful item, and I can't wait to see how some people use it.

Just make it a long timer, please.

This is still pretty wicked, but if it's a standard timer like the other event stuff, it'd suck the big one.

I had an idea regarding the timer:

The normal archives version should be moved so it goes diagonally across the lower back from left to right.  Then the special Live Event version can go diagonally from right to left creating crossed blades.  Both can be perpetual, only few people will get the twin blades and as already mentioned, anything new will become a fad and everyone will gain it, but given time, only the die hard users will carry on using it.

I know I wouldn't use it much at this point in time anyway as I dont think it will look good with my current costume.

Wow that is certainly a different reward! I guess we'll never know what to expect from these, which is great! Scary looking too! Don't cut yourself if you get one! SMILEY

I love the style and imagery associated with ninja's, samurai and their paraphenalia but the Matrix is supposed to be a convincing simulation of a typical 90's city, so a timer is very much a nescessary evil in this case.....

The blue headlamp is an 'item', yet it only sticks around for 2 minutes or so. I imagine that there will be 'perpetual sword' FX for people who win events.

My issue with it is that it simply looks huge. I was thinking it'd be a little more proportionate.
Maybe it's just the angle at which the picture is taken.

Something like this is what I'm talking about:

- Void
I was web surfing all over the internet for a shot like that , yeah I noticed it too. The positioning of the sword is too straight (kind of like how Blade from the movies would wear his). Swords like that are usually carried on the back at a slant to make it easier to grab and unsheathe (like the illustration Void has) .

...While the sword is a mere visual effect, and not for actual combat use, it lends an imposing presence to the wearer.........

Swords are lame.  Sorry, but I don't understand our obsession with the katana.  It's just a sword.  And the Desert Eagle is just a gun.  There's better versions of both.

Very cool, I was expecting just another variation of code flying out of my body, but this was a nice surprise. Although I do agree that the sword is a little TOO big.. I mean, it's absolutly massive. Void's sword would have been much better, or the size of Niobe's sword from the cinematic, but I guess you go with what you have.

I'm actually glad this is on a timer like the others. I mean, if this was perpetual, you'd see pretty much everyone with a huge sword on their back all the time. Anyway, I have a feeling a Perpetual War Sword will be the most sought after event reward now barring the FM-1500.

Got my sword today and the timer on it is awful! It only lasts a few minutes, then when it wears off you have have to wait at least a few more minutes just to activate it again.Very lame.
Timer really needs to get fixed on this item.
