The RP population on Syntax pretty muched up and vanished for many reasons, most of which include problems people had with one another while IN CHARACTER, some even OUT OF CHARACTER.
But I think, and I'm intitled to my own opinion, RP has vanished because of the severe lack of IG content, and events. You can say all you want about what SOE is doing for MxO...but when SOE's idea of an event is a group of people hunting down a RSI only to find that RSI on top of a building, after they've crashed 10 times, trash talking THE MEROVINGIAN himself and getting away with it and being turned invisible...yeah...thats going to have me begging to ask the question...*CENSORED*? What kinda shite is that?
You can also throw in the whole PvP problem. Too many people forgetting this is a game and taking PvP soo serious they expect to launch a viral program at someone at the bus stop who just took their seat IRL. Too much BS and not enough enjoyment.
And you can say this game is what you make of it, but some people's idea of enjoyment is pissing others off and making fun of folks in a game, as opposed to what enjoyment in a game SHOULD mean. What that means, again, changes with opinion.
As a self proclaimed RP-Vet. I've left because of all the reasons stated above, and I know there have been many before me who have done the same for the same reasons.
Will Syntax ever allow the shine of Linenoise to burst through even in the smallest of ways? I dunno. Do I hope it does? Yes. It would be great to actually want to jack into the game to enjoy myself instead of dealing with immature folks screaming 'zomg I pwnted j00 and ur soul!!!!111' and IG drama/BS. But then again...as its been noted more then once....
MxO = Serious Business...nuff said?
Amen Luca, amen. Seriously, I think we can safely say that too many people have left because of what you said. Too little to do and too many pricks. I've luckily never been part of any drama (I got a thicker skin than Master Shadow in RL) but seeing people get mad each other over a freakin' video game does make me sad. Thats probably where most of the serious RPers (not saying y'all aren't serious ) have gone, somewhere where the game itself isn't serious business, but just a video game. There are RPers left though, they're not all gone yet. Perhaps the hang out spot could change the face of RP and hopefully attract more RPers, new and old players alike.
(OOC)
I'd like to note that Cosa Nostra is an RP faction. Merv oriented, family mafia style. I've gotten more outlets for RP in this faction than ever before in MXO. (This is Jsong)
Faction chat is mostly IC unless otherwise noted (())
Tasa
I feel safe in saying as the Underboss, that Cosa Nostra is also a RP faction. Most of us use brackets to talk OOC and we have had some RP in and out of faction going on as well. We also haven't PvPed in a long while. I kinda miss that. as role playing PvP can be a lot of fun!
The Blue Order also has still been Role Playing and hasnt stopped. However, check the P.E.T. - Player Event Team post on the Event Thread.
*REMINDER* There is already a P.E.T. disregard my post about a P.E.T. If you are interested go visit this link >>>>> Player Event Team - P.E.T.
I apologize for the confusion. Looks like Mystic and Reeverb had everything under control
The location has already been changed and I've found several people RPing there occiasionally. Check Club Sphinx every now and then, the more you go the more people will follow. If everyone stands still then we won't move forward. If you're looking to RP then the best way to do it is to start it yourself.

And second, people will jack in to "the location," find no one there, and then go elsewhere. Coming from the dead-quiet server of Proxy, I was used to the sit-and-wait sense of roleplay. Sometimes you just have to find a place, and stay there for a while. It might sound boring and a waste of time, but if you want to roleplay, you have to be patient sometimes. So get something to multi-task, maybe a book, or a magazine, or knitting--and after a while you may find yourself some company.
