How would you get this working on a Mac?

have a intel mac with mac os 10.3 or higher download and install apples bootcamp program and install a ful version of windows xp sp2 and there when ur on the windows part of the hd u can run mxo just like i am SMILEY

Shouldn't be all that hard provided you have a copy of BootCamp and a WinXP cd to install. Essentially, yeah he's running it on Mac hardware, but not on the Mac OS.

You need an Intel-based Mac to do it. iMacs, Mac Pros, and MacBook Pros all run the game fine. MacBooks and Mac minis, with their Intel Integrated Video, still run the game, but slowly.

1. Download the Boot Camp Public Beta from Apple and install it.
2. Run the Boot Camp Setup Assistant and follow the instructions to create a driver disc.
3. Install Windows XP.
4. Run the installer from the driver disc to install all the drivers for your Mac's hardware.
5. Install MxO and whatever else and you're good to go.

Keep in mind the Boot Camp Public Beta expires when Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard is released later this month. You'll have to upgrade to Leopard to keep using it.

Now what I think would REALLY be tricky is if someone got it running under Linux.
I toyed with it for a little while under Wine in Linux. I could get the game to install, launch, login, select RSI, and the splash screen would come up showing it's loading, but once it got to loading the world stuff and/or switching resolutions from the base 8x6....kabloom! Back to Gnome.

Paige6 ... That's because MxO requires DirectX and Windows Media Player... Linux has neither.
Also unless you already have a mac this seems kind of cumbersome. If you want to run windows surely a wintel machine would be a much cheaper option.

Not bagging Macs, just saying that it's an expensive way to run Windows.
My mac is a mac (and terrific for video editing), my linux box is a LAMP server (easiest way to run a website test bed) and my other machines are wintel to run games or manage Microsoft domain servers. The right tool for the right job.

True...I'm not sure I believe the WMP being "required" to play. I'm guessing if you never play any cinematics, or launch the in-game radio player it probably won't cause a problem.

Linux has no DirectX?
