I originally got the game soon after release in 2005 I believe.  At the time I had little knowledge of MMOs and didnt really understand the game.  I wrote it off at the time, canceled my membership and sort of jumped on the bandwagon of bad critical response to the game at the time.  I then went on to play WoW for a bit, but grew bored of it soon enough.  Maybe MMOs in general just aren't for me, however I have signed up for MxO again and I really want to give it another chance.  I have missed much of the storyline since I have been gone, but I can catch up with that through a simple search on google.  I had to rebuy the game from direct2drive as I lost my original copy of the game, could any of you guys point me in a good direction for a site or something that could give me a good head ups of the ins and outs of the game world, the classes, etc etc?  Also can anyone recommend a server...there are only 3 but I don't want to play pvp so only two really...Any help in general would be really appreciated.

Evening, fack0.

I am indeed glad to hear that you have decided to return to The Matrix Online, and hope you find your stay here very worthwhile as well as highly enjoyable.

In order to gain a sound understanding of the basic concepts of the game, I have always found this Wikipedia article very helpful. It has been added to over time by several our current dedicated player base, including mysef - and as such, is reliably resourceful and verifiable for its source(s).

Servers:

Vector = Strong focus on PVP and combat tailored events such as this Elimination Hunt Event, as it automatically flags each player for combat after the level of 16.

Syntax + Recursion = A strong PVP environment, with, however, it could be said, an additional focus on Role Play, also with an abundance of social gatherings such as Namroc's Request Chef on Syntax and the Opaque Legacy faction's Jade Rave on Recursion.

Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Welcome back!

I had a similar experience, but cam back over a year ago.

I would check out Omega Syndicates site for good all around information. Some of their lists have flaws, but overall good stuff.

Also check the new MXO Mainframe, and MXO Space. Lotsa good info if ya scope around.

Finally, since you say your not interestewd in PvP, Im assuming you have a more of an interest in the character side of things. Lots of players have profiles posted in the Data-Archive. Also, takle a look through the Next Renaissance section of the forum (including the server specific ones) and also the Player Event sections. These have good storytelling and interactive events.

Syntax is the server with the better population these days, so I would play there. Mara C is generally a party and pvp hangout, Tabor West seems to be favored by RP'rs.

Hope that helps!
