Yeah he reminded me of Rarebit too, Ballak. It's the hair.

I like Cryptic because it appears the lead dev isn't trying to please everyone, they are doing what they want with the game (a lot like a fellow dev we know too, bar a few exceptions where players have forced him into something). I'm still a little apprehensive of whether those tactics will wash with treckies, but so far so good.

Ah, I said Vinia is a MxO exclusive. I'll probably have a different persona in ST:O

I know they said that they were aspiring for the technical accesibility that WoW has and that this would cause graphics to look less realistic but is anyone else as unenthused as I am about the graphics of the on surface characters, obviously taking into account the fact it's still being developed, they look too cartoony for me at the moment. Space scenes look good though.

Also I don't like the uniforms, they seem to be a throw back mix of late TNG and early DS9. I prefer the Late DS9 and First contact uniforms personally.

I think the real task now is implementing player systems / missions / content. I would like to see more about social interaction, etc, however.

From looking below you can tell they've built the rest really.

Vinia, you should read my thread called 'STO: Cryptics Cartoon?' it's got a lot of mixed response. You can find it here.

well obviously were still quite a bit away from release, and there is no telling how much better the characters will look between now and then. He said him self within 3 years. I reallize it will most likely be much sooner then that, but still there is a lot of time.

As far as the way it looks right now tho, I dont have a problem with it at all. It definitly seems to have that brighter feel of TOS and early seasons of TNG, but with all the backstory and drama of DS9 and VOY. I think from what I've seen so far I'm very pleased. Only thing I'm worried about really is the social interaction aspect. Still wondering how that will work.

Yeah, I've read it and the ST:O Uniforms thread and said my piece in both. Remarkable how many of those who wanted a simulation for transit (weeks - real time to cross the quadrent) have said that they don't mind the cartoonish looks of the Characters.

I'm pretty sure he said Fall 2009 in the video though.

Still, that's a lot better than "within the next 3 years".

I think I got the video taken down.  Posted about it on the STO boards here, and that thread blew up QUICK, and now the video has been taken down off youtube.   OOPS!  lol hehe.
