Kinda sounds like you're volunteering Proc. I don't mean to pressure anyone, but it is a time-sensitive decision before we all lose this place.
I'm not worried about a current player (well, most current players) being the administrator, as I imagine the only thing that would be deleted would be spam or over-the-line offensive stuff. I'd be happy to help out as a moderator, and I imagine many other MxO veterans would be as well.
I don't want to lose this rare thing, this mostly-mature, almost-always-civil, more-diverse-than-you'd-think online community that shares my interests. We have until July 31st to decide on a new Place (identify the subtle reference for a cookie).

MxOMainframe.com !!!!!
I agree with using MXOMainframe. Although the forums will need more boards.
Insomnia Diversion Forums/Mxomainframe also be trolling the wow boards.

With this I could not agree more, Tpaine.
I feel the greatest challenge which will present itself will be to:a) Advertise whichever site (and / or) forum is decided upon sufficiently to each part of the community.andb) To sustain interest in said site (and/or) forum after its initial creation. Ensure that it is a place which it will be felt is worthwhile to check back to every so often, if not most days.
Something for all of us to consider while we search for a new home.
*sigh*
I'm working on getting mxoboards.com back online.
WTB - DN1 Forum backup? Or the script database backup at least....
Remember when I started the unofficial forums? Those were fun!
I'd be more than happy to host it, but us potential archivists need to work together in the initial stages or we'll all have our own disparate boards and fragment the community. I fear if I just go ahead and make a forum, it'll only be so successful.

This is something we definitely need. I don't think it would be a good idea to bung the backup into the post-MxO board, though. As nice as it would be to essentially continue where we left off, these forums are huge and would put a serious strain on whoever hosted them if they were active. Far better to have the DN1 forums as a static archive, and have a separate, active post-MxO forum.
Rumbaar is still up and running and has fully featured community/forum features =P
<3 MxO Off-Topic forum
You guys keep me up to date on all new games, technology, movies/TV, and gossip. And news on current events. We don't have cable here so I tend to rely on you guys for news.
I don't want to lose that.

Considering how I have seen you treat some members of the MxO community in the past, there is no way would I (and perhaps some others) want to visit the "official post mxo" boards if you were the admin. Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of many positive contributions you have made back in MxO's hay day... but if you ran things I feel it would be a clone of the DoE boards behavior wise... and thats no fun at all.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't but think that due to the whole "guilty by association" thing, and before you say something like "I'm glad you wouldn't want to use our boards" let me point out how that would be proving me right. So do yourself a favor and don't say anything like that.
Now before anyone gets all butthurt over what I just said, relax. Just my opinion. I'm entitled, and I sure as hell wasn't gonna stay quite about my thoughts on the future of the MxO community.

Also I think Proc could do a great job as well. Even tho I know he hates me, I've always looked at him as an intellegent and respectable member here.
Not that my opinion means much (same goes for the upper statment)

Eh? I don't hate anyone here. I don't tend to hold grudges either (not out-of-character anyway), so if we've disagreed over something in the past, I've no doubt forgotten it.
just thought Id drop this....if ppl are gonna be wanting some forum trolling, the DE forums get a real good amount of daily traffic so feel free to stop by if you wish. We just had a forum crash/reset and started over at 0 posts, but in the past 2 weeks managed to get it up to 4k posts and 72 members. It died after 3.5 yrs with over 100k posts and 1k registers.
