I was hoping for more mechanical fixes.  Not just minor clothing addons and shinies being modified.  Really, in the grand scheme of the game - this stuff is not as important or imparitive as fixing the many, many severe bugs like NPCs wandering out of buildings during missions, or the graphical issues like wrong reflections and crap messing up the display.

None of the female clothing items that I have reported or have been trying to point out as major problems have even been touched.  Certain items of clothing - female clothing drasticaly corrupts the graphics.  Where is the fix for that stuff guys?  You certainly put a lot of work into updating the guy stuff - but very little has been done to the girl stuff.  Why is this?

When are the major Vista & Nvidia issues going to be addressed and worked on (if ever)?

And I don't like the reflections on the System Glasses - makes them look like big fat fit-over sunglasses.  Too glassy and glossy all the way around. Take a look at real life outside and emulate what you see - since this game is based more on being realistic.  Don't try to guess at what stuff should or should not look like.  Observation is a major part of deciding and working on these type of texture graphics and such.  The outside world can provide you with all the research you need.

The mechanics of this game are far more important than tweeking some dungeon settings and playing with shinyness of clothing.  or adding a black hat.  I'll be happier when the major mechanics are finally being proven to being worked on.

  • Just because a bug is reported doesn't mean it will be fixed in the next update, the Downtown lag problem was with the game for 2 years before the reason behind it was found and quickly removed.  I am sure the bugs are being looked at but it has already been said that we aren't blessed with lots of Devs and such to root out the problems, if you see a bug, report it with as much detail as posible and that could help speed the fix up.

  • I am sure Rarebit hasn't fixed all of the suff that was reported, MxO is noted as to having the biggest Male>Female ratio in a MMO and the Male stuff would probably been reported more and taken more priority because of that.... that or Rarebit is sexist!  =O

When are the major Vista & Nvidia issues going to be addressed and worked on (if ever)?

  • That, I am guessing, are more Nvidia and Microsofts problems, little the devs can do as it is how those drivers/system is running the game.  Though I may be wrong.

And I don't like the reflections on the System Glasses - makes them look like big fat fit-over sunglasses.  Too glassy and glossy all the way around. • Your allowed your opinion, personally I like the System Shades.

  • Yes the major mechanics are important, but so are new players, a lot has been added to this game and new players need to find out about it.  The shineyness was already on all the clothing, it just that it wasn't being displayed properly, Rarebit discovered this and sorted it but some clothing still needed tweaking, which I am sure isn't finished yet.  And for the major mechanics, 9mmfu has threads around the forum asking people to report problems, for instance the Downtown lag, Archives not starting and other things, if you discover a bug, even if it is a known issue, report what you did for it to happen and thay can re-produce it mabey finding a cause.  You cant cure a disease if you dont know the cause.

Some people have done and own literally everything in this game, and things like that hat can increase their intrest, even if it is just for a day, it got them to take a look.... thats how I see it anyway SMILEY

There probably is a reason that Monolith did not use those reflections and shiney textures in the game and left them adandoned.  Probably because they did not work right or weren't appealing to the creators at the time.  Often times in video game design, things get put in but are not utilized because of changes in artistic decissions or they caused problems and weren't worth the hassle.

Most of the mechanics bugs I mentioned have been reported multiple times - for quite a while now.  I reported in detail w/ pictures the corruption issues on the femme-clothing and I have been keeping a list of which items are causing the corruptions - on the request of one of the tech ppl.

And you shouldn't have someone who is biased to one gender over anouther making all those item and artistic decisions.  All the clothing, reguarless of gender deserves to have time spent on it equally.  Personaly I think somehow the loot that drops should drop according to the gender of the player.  I'm sick and tired of getting more male crap dropped as loot that I can't use because I play as a female.

I would like to see less complaining about what Sony doesn't give you and more focus development on the technical end. Too bad if the Devs are short (as they claim) on staff.  Even a small team can be effective if they know how to utilize their resources wisely and work with what they have and draw upon the skills and talents of the ppl working there to the absolute best of their abilities.SMILEY

And last but certainly not least, Whoopteedoo - a new hat!SMILEY  Big deal - Meanwhile my graphics are still corrupted constantly.  A lot of Users with 8800, and 8600 cards can't play because of massive lag indoors (which is not entirely Nvidia's fault). NPCs still wander off to point 0,0,0 during missions, Interlock animation is still very screwy. NPCs can shoot thru walls ... NPCs continously walk into walls and keep walking. The battleground Widow's Moor (or whatever its called) continues to be broken as NPCs constantly roll out of interlock, Login issues abound, and the game continues to be pretty much incompatible with Vista and DirectX 10.
But whoopee!  I got a new dark hat!SMILEY  That fixes all my gripes! - uhm ... NO, it doesn't. SMILEY

And this is what I mean by the glasses being too shiney and reflective ---->  GLASSES

So ... this update has been fairly disapointing and somewhat worthless.

Featured Changes
The Matrix Online Story Continues in Chapter 8.2!
Chapter 8.2 critical missions begin on Friday, August 24th, with another new mission arriving on each of the four following Thursdays: August 30th, September 6th, September 13th, and September 20th.

Changes and Improvements

  • Widened Scanline Receiver default window size so that the image fits the window under Internet Explorer 7.
  • A new Merovingian-affiliated NPC near Uriah SW directs new players east, where they'll find new enemies waiting for them below ground, and new rewards.
  • Lowered dungeon boss group respawn time from 20 minutes to 10.
  • The bluepill to be escorted in Zion archive mission 1.2.10 is now slightly higher level, and the ambush that spawns between the two phases now targets the player rather than the bluepill.
  • Dungeon loot has had resistances added where necesssary to bring the items in line with other CR2.0 items. As part of this rebalance, two levels have been added back to the required character level for Richland and Westview dungeon loot items, and the Creston Heights items have been raised from character level 40 to character level 50.
  • /random can now be used with two natural number parameters to specify a range.
  • Tiger Master Coat/Gi buff is no longer removed by negative condition sweeps or antibiotics.
  • Data Node Neo Agents NPC spawn in Data Node Neo Agents are of same level as the player.
  • The icon of ‘Code for Quicksilver Gloves' should now render as code in the inventory and in the Compile window
  • Moderated the new specular highlights added in update 53 on the following:

Your point? I wasn't talking about them in code form, was talking about them as wearable.

In this particular case, those specular textures were simply packed incorrectly. They were there, just not rendering. They rendered fine in the development tools, since those load the unpacked versions--so as far as the artists knew, they were always there and working. They were never removed, intentionally or otherwise. They were just broken.

Graphic corruption issues with female clothing, as well as other game textures, are due to a compatibility problem between the game and the implementation of DirectX in Windows Vista. The textures, according to how our texture rendering system works, are fine as far as I can tell. So unfortunately, as far as we know this is not something I can fix simply by going in and tweaking our textures.

We are of course aware of many engineering bugs that are yet to be fixed. But our development process does not work in such a way that if I didn't make cute new little hats and glasses for one update, those other issues would magically get fixed. If it did work that way, you can bet that it would be a long time before you got any shiny new hats and glasses, much as I like such accoutrements.

If you saw fewer engineering changes in this update than you would have liked, it may have had something to do with our engineer Dracomet having been on vacation for several weeks during this update's development period.

I don't know if it changed, I think it's just a case of it not being as dark as other black clothing. Doesn't bother me too much to be honest.

Versus something like the Black Dress Shirt (which looks 1000% times better in Update 54 than it did in Update 53):

I like the hat.

I didn't get a good look, but are there any friendly NPCs that point you to the Warehouse?
