So, as I'm trolling...er...moderating the worlds forums, I find myself moving a ton of threads to the Player Events forum. I personally like having a central resource for all player-hosted events for all servers. It is also much nicer to have an active Player Events forum rather than possibly diluting it by having separate ones for each world.

However, I also understand that it is much easier to post event notices in specific world forums so players know where the events are being held. Even if you forget to mention the world, players can identify it by the forum it's posted in.

So, here's my conundrum: Is it better to have a central location for all Player Events or better to have one for each World? If there is one for each world, is it better to have an individual forum in the Player Events section or in each World forum?

At the moment, I'm thinking it might be nice to divide the Player Events section into one forum for each world. It puts all the notices closer to the "front" of the forums for quick reference.

That's my 2$i. What about you?

I like the idea of having one forum for the events, in the forum is 3 threads, one for each world. Make it so noone else can create threads on that specific area. Then inside the threads of the worlds they can submit there events they wish to host. Its a bit cleaner and we dont have to look at two differant events forums to see whats going on.

Re: Walrus

I vote to have an Events forum in the World Section.

Matter of fact why not do the best of both worlds.

Example

World1

  --General

  --Markeplace

  --Recruiting

  --Events

World2

  --General

  --Markeplace

  --Recruiting

  --Events

AND

An Events section which is simply the events forums

Events

--World1  (points to the above forum)

--World2  (points to the above forum)

w00t everyone is happy and is probably do-able with the BBS software you have access too.

I'd like to see a Player Events forum for each of the Game Worlds.

I remember one time before the merge that I read of a Player Event on the main forums, got worked up and excited for it, and found out that it was only being held on Method(I was on Regression at the time).

Well if people aren't using the one we have now, what makes you think they will use 3 split versions? Meh, if you're going to split the board then put them in with the world forums now, so that they easily found by those who do know where the world forums are.

Personally, perhaps just some general (stickied) guidelines on how and where to post about player events is all that's needed...

Well it is not a good idea posting player events in a forum for all 3 worlds.  I would like to have it where each world forum had a Player Events thread.   I.E. Market Place, General Chat, Crew Recruitment threads.

I love seeing more of you on the forums.  Just question Walrus, are there other moderators besides you?  It could become exhausted.

I would like to see our PETs structure their subject line on their event posts with a (Vector) or a (Worldwide) to suggest which world their event is being held on.  Many times I have not been paying attention and thought an event was being held on my server when in fine print it said another.

I like being able to see all of the events in one section though.  A sticky on how-to post would be nice.

How about adding a field to the Post Form that asks which server the event is being held on.  Then we could add a collumn which organizes the events by server and most recent post.  I think that would help out tremendlessly.

Personally, I got a few ideas for ya Walrus.

First one would be to just make it in the posting requirements that the thread title include the server, for example...

[Recursion] Stewie Griffin's Sexy Party

The alternative to this could be to leave the player events up, because
sometimes people like to go to a party on another server, just to hang
out with their friends, and also make a player events section in each
server world.  Although it would kind of suck, as there would end
up being 2 diff discussions about the event going on in 2 forums, and
end up to just more board space usage.

I personally like the first idea the most.  Perhaps maybe make it
mandatory to post a link in the server forums, that points to the
overall event listing, and that all comment/discussion is going to be
in there.

Long story short, the only ways to do it are gonna spam the forums a
bit.  I personally don't want to see the player events going to
just server only boards, means the events get a bit less hype
usually.  Either way though, I think it'll be fine in the end.

Well I feel the Player Event section should be specific for each server as it takes a lot of the guess work out of know who/what/where an event is taking place.

But that said I feel the server sections should be open and on the front page and not 'closed', or if possible have the ability to open your own specific server so it displays all the time on the front.

Personally I prefer seeing the events announced to the world forum. I
only play in Syntax, and I'm not very interrested in seeing what the
other servers have planned. Like Tastee presented, I think a player
event sub forum in each world forum would be a better option.

Umm.. Got a little confused with the post, but w/e.

How the game world forums are, where you click on that link and are redirected to choose your world.. I think it should be the same like that, just with Player Events as the title...

I like the idea of having a central "hub" to check that way I don't
have to keep checking others, however you bring up a good point walrus
that if you have one some events might get pushed out or I might get
real excited about something but then it'd be bad to only have it on
one world.  Why not have both?

EX

Each have their own world player events

Main player events w/ stickie saying that this is only for multiple server wide events/finds/etc.

Moderation might still be not too great with that idea, but it might
help if we encourage people to put it in the right place.  I know
I used to only check the general discussion but now that it's kinda
split up a bit... I like it ^^

I would like to congragulate anyone who can host a successful Event on Vector without being jumped.

It will never happen, no matter how hard you try.
