I am sure this has been brought up before but i thought it needs to be mentioned again so the devs can take a look at it.

Currently there is very limited storage in game for items. I use 4/6 pages of inventory space for clothing, another for items/weapons and one free for items i loot. I have enough clothes to use all the different classes however due to the storage problem i cant put together multiple sets for def/resist/acc/dmg extra vs each class. This is a real pain in for pvp and espcially dueling. There is also alot of collector items ingame that clog up space. I know the email system can be used and i do use it however i find it annoying.

Here are my suggestions:

1. Add an extra couple tabs to the inventory to allow for more items.

2. Add an extra button on the hardline to a seperate storage system. This would be great for collectable items, pb items, construct books etc that you dont need very often.

3. Change the way the loading area works to allow more then just bits, subs, codes and notes to be stored there.

Personally I would like to see a combination of the first and second ideas as this will allow for more combat items/clothing in your inventory without needing to head to a hardline to change and also a place to store items rarely used.

Comments?

Personally, although not much of a collector, I don't mind the e-mail system as storage. It's makeshift and you can't append e-mails to add items but, all in all, it does the job for me and I've not had one single issue of any problems with e-mails going missing or getting lost etc.

Saying that, I'm not opposed to the idea of more storage if Dracomet were to work on it, as long as that work doesn't impede any other system he may be working on at that time.

They have been adding new items and cloths etc. for a long time now, without expanding our inventory space. I say, let's get that extra space. Whatever dracomet is working right now, i'm pretty sure they can find out themself what is most importent to the game and not what we write in a post here....

I agree we need more space and/or a way to store singletons. I have about 7 or 8 singletons for the PB missions and other things. i cant do anything with them  so they tie up a chunk of inventory space.

I store most of my stuff in email and only keep one folder for clothes but i still run out of space often as the most i can free up is 3 folders.

It would be nice to get a larger code archive too as I have almost no room for code storage since i have all the abilities fully leveled

Email storage is ok in my opinion i have never had a problem but i do think emails to yourself should be free as if i want to email my comando gear to myself thats 600k if and with the high value of all the other items i store it adds up prety quick

Well i for one would love the extra space somewhere thought i know for sure that adding extra tabs to the inventory space is a no go. Its already been covered and as far as i was aware they said that adding tabs wasn't possible because of the way they are linked to the database (hard coded was one of the main words used) therefore adding more would not only cause them to rewrite the code it would also require alot of time and possible major glitches/bugs. Something i'm not that willing and they're not willing to chance.

That said i would love an extra storage facility like the e-mail system only more... user friendly i know its possible to copy the UI and some of the code from the e-mail system tweaking it to allow amendments.  Would be great for the extra space... Storage characters only go to prove how desperate people are getting...

Yeah the whole Elite Commando gear can cost a future putting back and forward into emails. Same with like GI, Area K etc. Done this a couple of times by accident when i was coding. Coding seems to be the main area where we need a fair bit of invent space. Would like to see more tabs but from what i'v heard its not possible (even although they supposedly already have made invents bigger...)

Yeah this one has been mentioned before. BUT I still agree the MAIL system is ALOT better but I think a few more tabs on the Inventory bar would be alot better just for convenience I personally get sick of going through my mails retrieveing etc and sometimes if you do what I do and mail a few items at once and only need 1 in the future its a pain to take em ALL out and resend.

Anyways MORE INV SPACE FTW! hahah

The fact that the devs cant make major changes to the game since they took over is a major concern. For a game to succeed it needs to evolve and update constantly. I still see extremely obvious bugs in this game that have not been fixed since forever which just doesnt happen on other mmos. All the clothing that comes out is just the same models with new textures/colors etc. If SOE want MxO to live on for much longer they need to deal with this issue. I doubt they would apply the resources but the best solution would be to totally recode the game. Make an MxO 2 with all the changes we have been waiting fo that just couldnt be done on the current system. I know they will just look at numbers and say its not viable with the current subsriber base however ill bet that people will return by the thousands if this happened and real changes where made. This game has so much potential, i have really enjoyed this game even with all its flaw. I can only imagine how great it would be if all these problems where to be solved.

This is the most effective 'money sink' in MxO and needs to stay.

That's what, like 20 seconds of datamining? Not a big deal. I trust email more than inventory.

Believe it or not, there was a time in beta when the dev-ly thinking (or at least Walrus'SMILEY was that exactly half the current inventory tab allotment was enough.  I and some others argued long, hard, and ultimately persuasively, with the result that our inventory is as large as it is now.

The next major step was the phenomenal improvement in the email system.  My feeling though is that the email system was originally intended to work this way, since it just seems so perfect that exactly 12 items would fit in.  I've been way happy with this!

But there are definitely things that could be improved.  After all, why can't we email singletons to ourselves?  I think there were some glitches or adjustments or configurations which allowed this because I have some items I emailed to myself which ae labeled as singleton.  So I know it can be done.

Mailing anything to other characters we own would be nice.  Mailing them to ourselves on other servers would be even nicer.  I like the idea of starting over on Syntax, but having to refarm everything from SSR Glasses to Area Ks is...unappealing.  Plus, I have stuff like blue frags and Awakening Shades that I would hate to leave behind.  Not to mention my Neo's Insight and Glimmer of the Source!!

The inventory crisis ended for me when the email system was so awesome overhauled this year.  Other stuff which people have mentioned, like a better code archive or an item storage, would be great, but until then the email system is very okay and very appreciated.

I'm not overly certain and this is mainly from my thoughts on e-mailing singletons...

If they could make the system that checks a character's e-mails as well as their inventory when picking up a singleton then e-mailing a singleton to yourself should be available.

That is probably the current reason why you can't e-mail it to yourself. It's a singleton, you should only have one on you at any one time, if you could e-mail it to yourself and the system doesn't check your e-mails, then you'll get duplicates.

As for being allowed already, it's most likely a glitch or an item that was turned into a singleton after storing it in e-mail etc...

Yes it is, but sadly the fact is that the people who wrote and understand the bulk of the complex code that makes up MxO no longer work on it. Thus no one really wants to touch it in fear of damaging something beyond repair. The simple point is, MxO does not have the staff it seriously requires. Rarebit and Dracomet (if he's still around, I don't know) do an amazing job with the very limited resources and knowledge of the code they have.

I still see extremely obvious bugs in this game that have not been fixed since forever which just doesnt happen on other mmos.

Those MMOs actually have a programming team who understand the source code. We sadly, don't appear to have that anymore and haven't since the transfer to SOE.

As to the subject of storage, I too remember when we only had like 8 slots per page and no email function. The current email function acting as storage is a wonderful improvement. Although the draw back is some items that used to be emailable to yourself no longer are. Of course, I would love to see something better such as additional storage through the use of "compression" items or the like -- ideas that have been suggested for many years.

Changing the inventory space would mean editting the UI. Last I heard, that was a no-touch zone in the evalarchivedatabankz that MxO rests in.

lol'd at mxo 2, that would take months to recode and i doubt SOE would waste time doing that.

To the point, I have thought a lot about this over the past years and i had an idea, instead of expanding inventory’s etc why not give us briefcase's with the same storage space as a single tab in the inventory that takes up a spot in our main inventory, but to keep people from buying to many etc limit us to about 5 or 6 so its like having a whole new inventory? The briefcase I thought would keep to the game's feel but I don’t really know. Just a thought I came up with.
