Vogt was a bit of a hero.

Seriously, I have the utmost respect for everyone who is past and present in LESIG. No matter what people say, I don't think you know exactly what you're signing up for until you have done and are in.

It's easy to go off your head in the heat of the moment or when things are going a bit downhill, but I think if you look at it collectively it's something that people took for granted. Myself included, as a player.

Hey...

Way too many good words for me to rely on messengers anymore! I decided to resubscribe just to have some parting words, and to be with you guys, this time, not through the cover of a special character. My story with the LESIG, including Vogt, has been a rocky, but oh so great experience, that a single post might not be enough! I'll take a few days to think of the thank yous, but Shinryu had a good idea in thinking that I might have stuff to say about my years in the LESIG and the stuff I did.

Maybe surprising to some who only saw me through Vogt, I can be pretty vocal on issues that I take at heart (this might even be an understatement to people who saw me in the LESIG!), so yeah, expect something much more consistent in the next days!

Well everybody else seems to be doing it, so why not. It's common knowledge anybody.

I was Tranta, the Cypherite Liaison for Syntax for about 2 years or so now. I was many other people as well (Grammafone during a Mach event where they looked for a working radio transmitter program. I was also SystemResource; the nasty Machine program that took Nomatopoiea back to the Source. That was fun times). Above all, though, I was, and will continue to be for the limited future, Tranta; the snide, complacent but ultimately lovable (Hm...) Cypherite Liaison.

I post this here because, as well as the players who made my time as Tranta worth every second, there are also ex-LESIG members who will never hear what I have to say in the LESIG forums. It was always a pleasure to work with you. Itarrot and Haigen, most of all, were my two colleagues that taught me so much and kept things in line during those semeser-based absences I kept taking, much to my distress.

Haigen--Garutachi--was more than I could ever ask for in a partner. She completely overshadowed me 100% of time with her effort, dedication and absolute love for what he did. I can't think of a better person to walk behind and bask in the shadow of. Truly, it was a pleasure.

Ittarot, I have no idea whether you'll ever read this, but you were an inspiration even before I got into LESIG. We got off to a bad start, but time is the great healer, and I like to think we had a good rappore before your end came.

Stanten/Recant--DesperAuto, you sly fox. I'm still shocked I never figured it out. You were always one of my favourite Cypherites. You did so much for me as a player and even more when you were in LESIG. It was a true honor.

Vogt--Harpalos. I've only known who you were the last few days, but it doesn't matter. You were, and remain to be, a genius, and an absolute nutter behind Vogt's hard shell. It was also a joy to know you.

Tygrvason--Wolfess. You were hilarious, and kept my spirits up during all times in LESIG. Our conversations over IM with other LESIG members to this day keep me in stitches.

And to Rarebit, who may also never read this. You were the Mad Scientist head of the Snake. Much as we tried without you, we could never keep our momentum without your iron fist above us. You were the best boss I could have ever wanted. Enjoy whatever you do with yourself now.

Anyway, to the players: I may have not always been worthy of your time--in fact, I can't say at all that I was even a good Liaison, I don't have the qualifications or unbiased viewpoint to be able to say--but my time ingame with the Cypherites, in fact all the players I came across, was an unmitigated and neverending joy. It's my deepest regret if I ever let you down, and that I don't have any more time to make it up to you.

Tranta will continue to exist for the next 2 months, I'm sure; Bloodlust and he aren't finished with whatever we have to do. It remains to be seen whether LESIG will play any part in the end of MxO, but either way, Tranta has some time left in him yet.

Once again, it was, and will hopefully continue to be, one of gaming's best experiences.

Dare to Dream.

Thinking about the old days, who was our first Mero liason on Vector, Entropi?  Good times farming PB3 boxes in SVC with her.

I can't believe you'd forget Entropi, Vill. She was pretty much the only Vector Merv LO for almost 2 years. Baelroth did 2 LEs with her, but I think other than that she was the only LO.

LET was great about farming her to 50. You guys took it so seriously. It wouldnt have been an issue if the Furious Angels and Cyphs weren't so hellbent on chasing her across Downtown all the time. We had such great PvP battles though. We'd be running missions downtown and FA would ambush us at the hardline and then we'd call in reinforcements and they'd call in reinforcements and we'd have a huge battle in some random part of the city and we'd inevitable be outnumbered by Zion and I'd go running across the city toying with them. I remember I got so good at evading those 50s when she was level 25. Go up one elevator, run to the other elevator, go down to floor 16, stealth, wait 15 seconds, go back to lobby and walk out the front door.

Then start talking to them while stealthed next to them and start the whole chase over again.

Golly, those were the days.

Haha yes.  I remember if someone killed you you'd say to us, "He dies."  After a while the list grew, and we'd kinda roll our eyes a little when we heard another "He dies." SMILEY  I also remember tormenting Alsos.  I miss ininja too SMILEY

I had forgotten ininja, it's been so long. He was like my first and only MxO stalker (aside from the enterprising Othinn). Somehow ininja had gotten ahold of my MSN and he used to send me stuff. I could swear I remember having a video of him dancing at his computer. And... badgers. I should search my comp.

I remember you as Harpalos from my days as Seymour. Thanks for all of your hard work. You gave Sentience/Systematic Chaos a challenge that no other liaison had ever been able to give to us.

Okey, I was LESIG original.

Director's commentary:
Interestingly, LESIG was not originally intended to be the event helpers they turned out to be. Our first task was to go around the city and take neat screenshots of the world to be used in some sort of special part of the website. I think some of these pictures were used eventually.

My liaison was one of the first E Pluribus Neo liaisons and we helped to shape how the organization was perceived, with surprisingly little direction from Rarebit. I was Novalux on Syntax. I honestly worked hard to try and improve the gaming experiences for the players there since the game was crap and I remember fondly playing with the old LET team and especially the Novalis II. Unforunately, work + school + losing interest in a dying game made it so I had less and less time to jack in at all, let alone with my liaison. But I made sure to help craft and plan events behind the scenes.

Director's commentary:
One I remember very fondly is an event I completely created myself. It was the event with The Scanner:

This was an exile who used to be a program which attempted to scan bluepills for anomalies in an effort to discover when rebels were in the process of extracting a redpill. Since the truce, he became obsolete. The Cypherites thought this would be a useful program to have on their side and so their goal was to escort him to a secure location after meeting with him. EPN's goal was to assassinate the program before reaching the location. I tried to plan it to have good balance so that the players would have a good chance of influencing the outcome. Unfortunately as was often the case, Rarebit screwed things up and forgot to give The Scanner epic admin amounts of life and he was killed off fairly easily. The Cypherites still put up a great fight though.

I also designed the event were on Syntax EPN players were around different parts of the city and Shimada would detect a signal and report the "ping" time for it (i.e. the amount of time it takes for the signal to reach a location). We went to 3 points and told the players to triangulate the position. After some prompting, a few of them found the right location near the statue at Mara central and we all went there to get a glimpse of "Morpheus" speaking.

I had a few minor characters and helpers which I don't completely remember.

I was super mad that Rarebit wouldn't let LESIG liaisons level up fast somehow so that we could put on a wider range of events. There ARE instant one-level items in game, it wouldn't be hard to pass out 50 of those to the liaisons. Imagine what we could have done with that. Instead of the lame spawns of NPCs, you guys could have been fighting level 50 story characters that actually talked to you and acted like real people, and were actually a challenge. Before I resigned I actually offered to use my main character with a name change to be a liaison for the Machines on Recursion, since they didn't have an active one at the time. He said we can't be on the server with our main character. Which I thought was a dumb argument since if I renamed my main character and used it as a liaison, it wouldn't be my main character... Oh well. The lack of assistance and only using liaisons as overglorified messengers ("Hey guys there's a meeting with The Kid tomorrow!") combined with increased lack of time and increased disgust for the situation the game was in lead me to resign from LESIG a little over a year and a half after we had started the liaisons, Early 2006 to Mid 2007.

Director's commentary:
In the beginnings of LESIG after we had liaisons for awhile, forum moderators (other players) were still allowed inside the LESIG forum. This resulted in several leaks. One horrible moderator, Sneaker, started a mini-flamewar in the LESIG forum because he thought some liaisons were RPing "too hard" against his faction, The Collective. After I put him in his place, he tried to "moderate" me and after the discovery of more leaks, moderators were no longer allowed to view the LESIG forum.

After I returned to the game from a year hiatus, I started to use my old liaison character as a "freelance" agent, making it clear that I wasn't an official part of EPN anymore, but I wanted to put on some small but entertaining events. Unfortunately, that's about when Rarebit announced his departure. I asked him if before he left I could have my Novalux forum account back to put on some events after he leaves, but he said no and then he changed the name of the Novalux character to something else just to spite me one last time. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUU

So then I quit the game again. I'm only back to see it die and say goodbye to an old friend that was poorly mistreated.

I hope that even with the resources we had, the LESIG players managed to make the game at least a little more fun and engaging for the other players.
