Okay... the reason why this was done:

The bonuses on those clothes were pretty out of whack for the level requirements. Level 16 clothes that give you +10 to an ability... I guess they were just that way because they were crafting clothes.

However, we do feel your pain. I'm going to go through these today and change them all back at least partways - the old +10 ones will be +5, and the +15 ones will be +8.

I'll be putting the decompile clothes closer to what they were, maybe +8 and +12 or something, because there seem to be fewer and I'd like to make it easier for people to be decompiling all the new stuff that's out there.

So pretty much all Crafting clothes and all Decompile Skill clothes are the ones affected, right?

Thanks alot, Frog.

The buffs didn't take, HCFrog. All my clothes are still +1 and +2.

I will check all of mine, but the ones that I did check right away
(the Decompile +10 male pants) were now at +8.  I'll try and
check the rest tonight.

I don't think all of them were covered. The Enhanced Slate Plain Slacks that gave +15 to Decompile are still at +2 on QA.

I'll check my excel list tonight on QA and see if i see any missing. I for one am glad to be able to continue decompiling with a decent chance of success so i can expand my list of clothing options to those close to me.

While we're on the subject of crafting clothes...

Originally when you decompiled clothes, you got 15 charges worth of code from it.  After this was silently adjusted in a patch, now it's like three.  Sometimes for me it's been 2!!  I mean, what's the point?

Could this be adjusted as well, so that we get a more reasonable quantity of charges?  If we cannot go back to the original regime of 15 or so, how about splitting the difference and saying like 8 or 10?

If this has already been dealt with, forgive my inattention.  When I found I was getting a dismal 2-3 charges from decompiling, I personally pretty much retired from coding clothes; it seemed so annoying and pointless.  So maybe this already been fixed.  But if it hasn't, please give it some thought.

Cordially,

It hasn't been corrected. In fact, the reduction of charges per recipe was presented as a fix. The official explanation was that the excess of charges allowed to a coder to create an almost endless source of bits. That it was the only class that has the chance to create more from nothing, compared against the original numbers of bits needed to create it in first place. Moreover, such surplus were a potential wreck on the economy. Go figure it.

Ahh Sugaree, yes this was a "Fix" to not allow coders to get extra bits.
Although I wonder if I calculated the number of bits used to make
something would I find that there were extra bits or not.
You will see it when you are coding the items not decompiling them.
I have even seen some items that allow you just to make 1 of them
per new code.  I agree with you that they need to get these numbers
higher because it would help to make coding a little more profitable.
This lack of copies and the new Item stability problem could bring
coders back because items are getting damaged more.

Another coder problem now is that the compiler will not show
the information about the items in the compiler.  This means you
need to go to the Code analyzer and find the item and then back
to the compiler to make it.

I'll tell ya, the limited charges thing I am getting used to.  But EVERY TIME I am in the compiler then have to remember the EXACt name of something and go into the Analyzer to see what it does, I get upset.

Let's not even go into the duplicate items that have identical names but different bonuses!

Awsome move HCFrog

I must admit it's nice to be a bit causious about what you decomp now.

after all I was hitting 79 on ability coding alone before the change

not to mention the same for decomp.

so all in all a few extra buffs would be nice or at least if it's a lvl 55 clothing and your decomp is at 56 you will learn and not fail.

*keeps fingers crossed MxO clothing has a revamp :smileytongue:"

Another couple of things I'm concerned about now:

1.) The Coder ability self-buff does not give a buff to Compile.  Intentional?  Also, it doesn't last long enough to compile a high-level item, even with Minor Repairs loaded.

2.) Certain new clothing items, such as the Enhanced Black Bandanna (Male) require a Red Frag (a clothing object in this case) to make, and only give 1 charge to compile.

3.) Compiling seems to have been overlooked, as you can code things relatively easily, but when trying to compile an item at a Signal Booster that is even 6 or more levels below your compile level is 50/50 at best.  Example: Level 54 Kessey AR1 rifle, took 3 of 5 charges to compile successfully at level 60 compile skill.
