I have an onboard Audigy 2 and it works fine with MxO.  I do have sound issues from time to time and to fix that all I have to do is change the settings back to the default settings in the Audigy's software.  Keep in mind I never change the settings myself and haven't been able to narrow down which program I have on my pc that does keep changing it.  I am at work and can't post the steps, but if anyone wants to try it let me know and I will post the steps when I get home this evening.

Hope this helps.

I have had the same exact problem Adnihilo is describing and have also tried everything I can find posted on the subject with no success.

-Turned of EAX

-Turn off hardware acceleration in Directx

-Updated ALL drivers to latest versions

-Deleted profile folder and performed full patch

-Tried /radio stop

-Manipulating selections in the in-game audio tab

As
Adnihilo has also indicated this is a problem with the in game-music
ONLY, not a radio or other audio problem. I have all other in game
sounds; footsteps, helicopter, etc. and full radio functionality, just
no in-game music. Jumping to another hardline location has no affect.
If anyone has found a solution or something else to try please let us
know. I have found the folder with the in game music on my hard drive
and played a few of the tracks so I feel like I am missing out!

Here is my Directx info related to audio-

Yup, I with you, I'd like to see some resolution as well. I am still
without in game music a couple of months after original  post. It
nice not nice to be ignored.

Bumping this back up... I uninstalled my Soundblaster and loaded up my onboard AC'97; still no game music, like the entry music, etc.  Would still like to see a resolution, please.

I have had a similiar issue, but when i go to Windowed mode then minimize the game only to switch back to the game to have the sound gone. A work around i found with that issue was to go into the Audio panel and move the Volume slider a bit then the Music came back.

Sorry, don't know if it's been suggested, but when I ALT+TAB out of game and then back, I lose the background music.

Usually opening and closing the radio feature fixes it for me.  But maybe that's pretty much the same thing as /radio stop. ... eh, worth a shot!

Well, I have to try that in january, when I come back to my regular computer. This one handles all the sounds perfectly (ehh, well as long as I restart the game every time I change sound options in any way).

I recently installed the SoundBlaster Live! 24 bit sound card. Since then I have not had any in game music at all. All the sound effects work just find and even the starting credits music works, but no in game music. The music for the Cinematics is gone now too. I searched the forums and found alot of ppl who posted this same problem. Has there been any resolution to this problem? I've updated all drivers and submittied prob to SOE, but no resolution yet. Just hoping someone has found a work around.
