Cool, your added -

I'm on the west coast, Pacific time.  Im home most of the day - pending i get my job or not.  And weekends im home and online too - as long as there aren't other matters to attend to.  I guess I can be an unofficial bug finder.  I really would like to see this game to live up to its potential some day.  Minus the issues it is fun and could revive the Matrix mythos if it has a bit more push for perfecting it behind it. I briefly studied 3D animation and games in art school.  I know in concept how things should work, but I can't write code.

Well, what I'm gonna try to do is get a couple of players on an Instant Messenger such as AIM or Yahoo and setup a chatroom sometime soon so we the more experienced Vista players can attempt to locate and pinpoint the issues exactly.

Just a note:

If you're handy with the useropts.cfg file, enabling ModelLighting in any form will fix the improperly rendered lighting on character faces.

Not a real fix, I know, since the downside to this is that models will no longer be affected by ambient lighting.

Just want to add that i'm having the texture issues as well.  I just installed the game today, i'm a newbie.  I'm playing the game on Vista Premium, 7600 GT card with latest Nvdia Driver 162.22, in 1680x1050.

Here's a short list of some of the clothing I've seen and had been having trouble with.  Just by NPCs and players having them on in the area triggers the corruption.  I have tried different versions of Nvidia drivers and nothing fixes it.  Oddly enough this does not happen on my XP drive - as Rarebit has apparently reported.  But just because Rarebit is developing in XP and doesn't encounter these issues doesn't mean that the problems are not there.  He needs and YOU guys need to be developing in VISTA to recognize new problems and conflicts that this broken game is having with the newest software.  You should be developing with Nvidia cards - DirectX 10, on the newest platforms and most current versions of Jupiter (Lith dev engine) available.  I am sorry evil SOE has you short handed and doesn't give you guys shyte to work with.  But really - start demanding from your bosses that these are the things and tools you need to keep this dying game running.  It's that or you will loose more and more players due to the Lag issue and other problems that happen ONLY in this game.  My other games run smoothly and fine with leads to pointing the finger at MxO itself and it's poorly coded engine.

I have stopped auto-payments on my Sony account, effectively quitting my account.  I might still play MxO on a gamecard pay basis.  I do like to play with my friends and stuff - but these technical problems are intolerable.  You can demand stuff from your bosses you know - to get new tools and machines to work with.  It just takes some negotiation and examples with numbers of subscribers to get their attention.  There are no emotions in business - and personal preferences with what computers you all LIKE to work on is completely irrelevant. (I have to work on a Macintosh OS10 at my work / and my home computer is a microsoft run PC - i like PCs better, but I have to adapt to working on a Mac to do my job)  It's business - tell your rep guy Raijin to start negotiating with your bosses to get shyte done.  As this affects all of Sony's *CENSORED* poor online games and their bottom line.  Tell them the cannot compete with Blizzard on any level because they are so sucky and poor at giving you guys what you need.  And I am sure there are plenty of up and coming game dev gurus at Digipen who could probably help you for not a whole lot of money.  Perhaps going out on a freelance hire basis would be preferable to your budgets and help you guys move along.

Anyway  - here's a list of the clothing  I have spotted trouble with:

Millerie (spl?) Dresses:  Any color, the vendor at Sia Kung who sells them is affected.  Just having them in the buy list seems to trigger the corruption.

Dire Lupine NPC outfits

Li style fighting Tunic dresses

Sidestrap, long boots

Mostly seems to be female stuff - as you have suspected.  Most of the male clothing does not cause any problems.  Although I don't know why that would really be or matter.  And Rarebit put too much shine on everything and whatever he was messing with when he said he found "hidden reflects and shines" are not helping the game any.  And they are causing more problems than fixing them.  Unless he seriously wants to fix it quickly and make them work right - I suggest turning it off and putting it on the side and dealing with more immediate and important Dev issues.

As for the serious lag issue - I have the Lag problem on my XP drive but NOT my Vista.  Both use the same card and have the latest drivers.  I am still convinced it is not entirely Nvidia's problem - as my other online games do not have this issue at all.  You need to get a PC with a 8000 series card - preferably a newest 8800, and see what is happening first hand on XP and Vista both.  On Directx10 - not 9.  By being able to recreate and experience these problems we the players are having.  You will be able to find the problems with your tools and fix them in a much more efficient manner.  That is what engineering and development is all about.

Sorry I missed you on the chat that time.  Maybe I could meet you in game sometime.  I work FT during the week.  But I'm on Pacific time - as I live nearby Seattle.  You can PM me or drop a note in my yahoo chat for a time and date to meet - if you want.  Oh - and I'd love to have it out with Rarebit too - a duel perhaps - to resolve our ... differences that we have had.  Anyway - I am probably wasting my breath on all this.  But there you go.  Unless these major issues are being worked on and fixed in an efficient manner this game will continue to loose players.   Sorry I am so hard about it - but really, I am a big fan of Matrix and I DO like to play the game.  It just needs some fixing to make it better.  And if its fixed - then players will come.

I wanna cry... why isn't MxO supporting Vista? Would we need a whole new dev team to accommodate the OS change?

Heh - maybe try convincing SOE of that.  I am sure the dev team is working hard on it.  They only have a few guys left.  I am sure they would appreciate the help.

If any tech savy fans out there are willing to lend a hand in Vista fixing - I'd say PM these guys w/ your info and/or suggestions.  Maybe this is the only way we'll finaly get some fixes.  I only hope that in the next update there will be more technical fixes patched onto it.  Rather than just some dumb typo fixes and additional texture modded clothing items.  I would much rather wait longer for some tech fixes than getting new items.  New items are a plus - but what good are they if they don't work right or make Vista and my video card tweek out?

Is anyone else having sound problem with Window Vista?  On my machine, it doesn't always play all of the sound.  Sometimes it'll play combat sound, environment sound, sounds like footsteps and door opening closing, but not all of them at once.  Also, it doesn't play the voice that are on the Data CD that you get from archive missions.

Another summary is that not all of us had a choice on what OS we wanted for our computer. >.<

Windows... Aurgh. SMILEY I for one will never get Vista, as it seems it causes more problems than it does benefitial things. All I know is you don't want to mix the (6600 I believe?) GeForce with Vista. It's like a combination of Tom Cruise and John Travolta. >_> Exceedingly egotistical, edgy, and prone to break... a lot.

I think you mean the 8600 Geforce (the entire 8k series from what I hear).  I just bought a new laptop, and the availability of XP preinstalled as well as a non 8k series Geforce was the deciding factor on brands for me.  I opted for Alienware over Dell for those reasons.  I know Alienware is owned by Dell, but it's still a better deal and I'll go to Vista once all the kinks are worked out.

There hasn't been a fix to the face/shadow issue, has there?

To me, that's the most annoying bug of it all, hehe.
