Thought i'd make a thread on it so everyone can have their input. SMILEY

--Live Event Recaps

1st, i personally prefer the old live event recap structure - that is a big image first to show off some of the game's awesome visuals (maybe in that cool border?) and the old 'event title with an underneath link' style too. Would love to see that back. And even if it isn't at least underline the links so it's clear they are in fact links and not just white text SMILEY

2nd,We also don't really need the chapter tags any more since the article is only meant to be covering a single sub-subchpter anyway SMILEY

3rd, i like how the live events are going to be done on thursday, makes sense considering thats the day we move forward in the subchapter. Means we can recap the events that happened leading up to the new crit. Now to catch up so it's nice and timely again.

4th, Make the events go in decending chronological order, only makes logical sense. for example, in the current article, Veils event is listed before Cryptos' when it directly relates to the repurcussions of Cryptos'.

5th, i'm undecided on the whole transmission style, i mean, its nice and mxo-y but at the same time it makes the title of the article hidden and less noticable and kinda feels a little cheap to me. But like i said, undecided. Maybe just make the title a little bigger and bold.

6th, since it looks to be returning as a seperate article maybe the event recaps can have a seperate name from community uplink - like... err... Briefing File or Comms Chatter.

7th, FIX THE FORMATTING. That is to say the article is only using half the page, see how it cuts off the Malphas event title? And the big empty spaces like under the links? Nasty. SMILEY

--Player Event Annoucements

I was first going to suggest linking the images to their respective threads, since it needs some sort fo linkage, but since not all events are going to have images might i suggest simply having a link based articles with links nicely underneath any images.

- This is just a new format so let's give it a fair shake. Some people like the RP element while others don't like it so much. We'll feel it out of course.

2nd,We also don't really need the chapter tags any more since the article is only meant to be covering a single sub-subchpter anyway SMILEY

- It's always had the chapter tags so I think I'm going to stick with listing them for the time being.

- I believe we have always done the LE updates on Thursdays for that very reason.

4th, Make the events go in decending chronological order, only makes logical sense. for example, in the current article, Veils event is listed before Cryptos' when it directly relates to the repurcussions of Cryptos'.

- We can look into the chronological orders a little better for future updates.

5th, i'm undecided on the whole transmission style, i mean, its nice and mxo-y but at the same time it makes the title of the article hidden and less noticable and kinda feels a little cheap to me. But like i said, undecided. Maybe just make the title a little bigger and bold.

- I kind of like the RP elements in the "Uplink" since you're kind of "Jacking in" to get the information. We can feel it out a bit to get things looking better.

6th, since it looks to be returning as a seperate article maybe the event recaps can have a seperate name from community uplink - like... err... Briefing File or Comms Chatter.

- We're going to still feature Trax's Caption Contest with the Comm Uplink (he was just busy for a bit and didn't get the chance to update the contest in time) so we'll see how that works out.

7th, FIX THE FORMATTING. That is to say the article is only using half the page, see how it cuts off the Malphas event title? And the big empty spaces like under the links? Nasty. SMILEY

- Agreed. It was the end of the day and the content management software wasn't really agreeing with me on how I wanted things to look so I had to leave it as it was. It should look a bit better today (Friday).

- I think it's fair enough to say that if there is a forum link to the event it should be included moving forward. I also think that a link at the bottom on how to submit a player event would also be nice.

Anything being added to the site is a bonus for everyone and the game entirely.

Also any word on that guide that walrus was supposed to be posting on the site, or did that just get canned?

Righty ho, just thought it was nice having a nice big image to show stuff, but yeah, we'll see how things go. Hopefully (when the softwares nicer, heh) it'll look better centralised.

2nd,We also don't really need the chapter tags any more since the article is only meant to be covering a single sub-subchpter anyway SMILEY

K, spose it doesn't make that much difference - just found it a bit silly myself =P

Nope, they recently made the jump into Monday's Community Uplink - its also why i suggest a change of name if they're going to be different.

4th, Make the events go in decending chronological order, only makes logical sense. for example, in the current article, Veils event is listed before Cryptos' when it directly relates to the repurcussions of Cryptos'.

Nice one, maybe even just throw the dates on the end of the titles to make things easier too ^^

Yeah, i have to say it is growing on me. lol. But like i said, maybe just make the title a bit more prominant and it'll be all good.

6th, since it looks to be returning as a seperate article maybe the event recaps can have a seperate name from community uplink - like... err... Briefing File or Comms Chatter.

Don't really get what you're saying here im afraid =P You saying Uplink will be on a thursday now? It was nice having it on a monday, plus that way you can add the player event annoucements into it (makes sense to be a community uplink afterall. Thats one of the reasons Walrus consolidated community affairs into the one article. Just makes things easier and more together.)

7th, FIX THE FORMATTING. That is to say the article is only using half the page, see how it cuts off the Malphas event title? And the big empty spaces like under the links? Nasty. SMILEY

Good to hear, remember, centralised images are your friend SMILEY

Aye, good idea too.

Thanks for the reply Raij! Even if you did steal my quoting colour, reducing me to green. SMILEY

Oh and Tray, i think that got canned with the lack of web team responce. Though with Raij's little scheme of player submitted guides ever comes to light no doubt we'll use that in some capacity.

lol, I was like: "Wow, MXO has a website next to the forum?"

I'm not joking. SMILEY

Why aren't the green titles clickable? It's a tad annoying to search (it's a long search...) for the 'Click here for more!' text when I've already read the title and wish to see its contents.

*Laughs.* Your content management software stinks, doesn't it? SMILEY Walrus had trouble with it too. I'd've thought the idea, in the design brief, would be to make it usable. Looks like they failed.

Player Event Recaps

Pretty nice - cept everything being green. Looks good for the transmission stuff but not for the text itself as well. Too much. Definate turn off for the eyes. So much so i didn't actually bother reading it there - i just went to the forum post.

Also still gotta work on underlining those links, or at least parts of them (i.e 'here'SMILEY

Also not a big fan of the words 'sync up' - doesnt really fit with anything we've seen before but hey - personal opinion, be interesting to see what others think there.

Still not sure whats goign on with the spacing either - big gap at the beginning, end and before the image. Use of space is important in articles and as much as one can see the effect trying to be achieved it simply isnt working. Or at least not to me. Especially around the image.

And on that topic, the image. It was perhaps the worst image of the post - a nice intro but certainly not one to show off the event - or in fact the game. An outsider would look at the post about a party, see that barren picture and just think 'ouch, thats one unpopulated game if they call that a party'. You know? Pick a picture thats really impressive, not just the first one you see.

Ok, i have to admit it's growing on me. xD

Still...

1. Kinda applies for a lot of the articles but when your initialising visuals think there could be a single line space before the image? Would fit in better with the rest of the nicely spaced test, especially how theres one after the image. ^.^

2. I'm still for new names for different articles, or at least live event recaps because it's more detached from 'community' activities and is more of an important game progression thingy. I still vote 'Comms Chatter' myself SMILEY
